this awful thing happens on dono posts where the higher the note count gets the fewer actual donations actually get sent. psychologically i suspect people see the note count and feel warm fuzzies like ah these people are taken care of now :) not knowing that misconception might be condemning a family to death

this is the al manasra evacuation fund. mohamed’s wife, manal, has a documented medical exception and they will be allowed across the border in the new year but only if they can pay for every family member.

if you’ve seen their gofundme page as well that is just fine to circulate and donate to as well. we are shifting to primarily using chuffed because gfm is unreliable. thank you. thank you thank you thank you.

The Occupation has systematically destroyed every social infrastructure that makes civil society possible, whether it be healthcare, food systems, or education. They've targeted schools, hospitals, businesses, and every person who supports their community through their profession.

Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.

Palestinians have survived occupation for well over a century now, and they will remain steadfast, but they need your support.

Even with the ceasefire, resources are still limited and expensive. The weekly allowance for basic provisions like baby formula and flour is about $1000. Rana is also anticipating additional costs for baby formula, clothes, and natal care as she's eight months pregnant and expecting soon.

Finally with the ceasefire, Rana is hoping to evacuate with her family altogether. The cost of evacuation per person ranges from $5000 to $7000. If Rana gives birth before she can evacuate, that puts the total anticipated cost at $49,000 (5 children, 2 adults).

As of today (1/23), we are at:

$8185/$100,000

$0/$1500 <- Weekly provisions

$0/$2400 <- Daily goal to reach $49,000 in three weeks

Donate here.

I know these are overwhelming numbers, but if every person who shared this post donated $5, we can get them to safety.

i made a zine O_o

PEOPLE ARE SO SHY THESE DAYS is a 12-illustration zine about robot girls and coping with loneliness through technology. Here's the cover and one of my favorite pages. You can purchase the full thing on itch.io for 5 USD ⭐️

i feel so incredibly lucky to call mohammed ayesh my friend. i've only known him for a handful of months but my life is better for having him in it. he is the most compassionate and determined person i know, and the strength of his character is rivaled only by the generosity of his heart. mohammed has been working incredibly hard and risking his health and safety to verify campaigns on the ground in gaza for quite a while now. i cannot overstate how much he has done and continues to do for others. i am humbly asking you to consider donating to his family's campaign to help them raise the funds they need to rebuild their lives in the face of the devastation israel has wrought. they are close to their goal- there is less than £9,000 until their campaign is complete!

mohammed runs the blog @gaza-evacuation-funds and has been vetting campaigns for el-shab-hussein and nabulsi for many months. please consider showing your appreciation for his hard work and dedication to his people by sharing this post and donating what you can! let's work together to help mohammed and his family!

I do think with news of the ceasefire, everyone should read up on what the ceasefire actually means and what the different phases of the ceasefire are. here's a good source for what we know as of now:

Some of my initial takeaways are:

  • this ceasefire is temporary (as of right now, six weeks long). negotiations will continue but israel is not offering guarantees about continued non-violence. BDS remains important. be vigilant, keep pressure up
  • rafah crossing will open one week after the initial phase starts
  • israel will release 2000 prisoners
  • more aid will get to northern gaza, look out for ways you can help
  • if the second phase is initiated, israel will do a complete withdrawal from gaza. which means the initial phase will not include that. again i say: BE VIGILANT
  • if the third phase is reached, reconstruction will begin "under international supervision"
  • nothing is over, even if this is a relief. do not tape out, do not tune out.
  • pls still read the full article
