Hi! Can I ask how you did the double exposure gifs for your merlin set? They're beautiful btw!

heyy, thank you!! of course!

it's actually not very hard, the trick is to find the right shots for this. here's how i did it (reference gifset), under the cut.

for this tutorial i will be: β€” using photoshop cs5 on windows β€” assuming you know how to make gifs using the timeline β€” have basic coloring, sharpening, groups, and layer masks knowledge

@buckypascal requested a tutorial on how I blend gifs, so here’s a basic overview of my process in case anyone else is interested!

This tutorial assumes at least a basic knowledge of gifmaking (how to crop, sharpen, and color gifs) and also assumes that you are working in photoshop.

HOW TO: Do A Crystallize Gif Transition

Hi! I was asked to explain how I did the transition effect in this gifset, so here's a quick tutorial! Disclaimer: This tutorial assumes you have an intermediate understanding of gif-making in Photoshop using Video Timeline and requires the use of keyframes.

RIPPED PAPER EFFECT TUTORIAL

hi! thank u :D (thgweek set referenced)

below the cut are the steps that i took to create this effect. this tutorial is very screenshot heavy and assumes some basic knowledge of photoshop and giffing.

i do my best to try and explain my process so hopefully this is helpful! if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

GIF LAYOUT/TEMPLATE PACK!

i've had my beloved blog for what feels like forever, but today it turns 13, so in celebration and as a little thank you to all of you for following my nonsense and sticking around, i've decided to share some of my favourite layouts that i've created.

PLEASEΒ credit if you use any of these! either link to this post or the original sets linked below!!! (except of course the sharpening actions!)

HEXAGON LAYOUTΒ - this is my favourite kind of set to make so i hope y'all have as much fun with this as i do. there'sΒ twoΒ folders of the layout, one is just the reverse of the other depending on how you want your gifs to look, just clip your gifs to each hexagon and watch it all take shape! [first seen here]
PALETTE MOVIE POSTERΒ - this psd has folders for each element, so the text layers are labelled in a group, and then the palette boxes are grouped together too, just fill each layer clipped to a palette square with your chosen colour! [first seen here]
LETTERBOXD TEMPLATEΒ - i almost didn't share this one because of the labour of love it was to make, but feel like i'm so proud of it, it deserves to be shared. each movie space is split into a group, and within that there's the folders for the star ratings. you can toggle on/off the heart/review/date (as the ratings change you'll just have to shift over these logos to keep things uniform!) and clip your gif over the shape for the movie poster. [first seen here]
DIAMOND MULTI GIF LAYOUTΒ -Β the most simple of all the layouts, but it got a really great reaction so i'm throwing that in here too, again like the hexagons, there's two versions. one being the reverse of the others, just clip your gifs to each shape. [first seen here]
SHARPEN ACTIONS - VERSION #1 & VERSION #2 - have been asked about sharing these recently so thought i'd add this in, i mostly use version one but occasionally it's too sharp for certain media, so i use version two, which is just the same thing without the last extra sharpening!

This is a tutorial for the header included in the preview. It’s not a general tutorial since each header is different, but I hope this helps anyone who was wondering how I made my headers.Β

Please do not copy this as your own and please try to use this as a guide so you can find your own style. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask me!Β

tutorial is under the cut:

This is a tutorial that goes step by step on how I make my icons.

I saw my old tutorial getting some notes recently, and thought I’d make a newer one as my methods have changed over time.

**I have CS6 Photoshop, but I am sure any version of Photoshop will work!

I’ve recently been asked by several lovely and curious souls to break down this Witcher set, so I thought I’d go ahead and put together a proper tutorial for everyone. All you need is Photoshop and basic giffing knowledge, preferably using the timeline. This isn’t necessarily simple, but I would say it’s one of the simpler things I’ve doneβ€”somewhere between easy and medium difficulty, maybe.
