12/17: ask box temporarily open!

I got a car! thank you so much everyone! the car has already allowed me to get better medical care! and I found out something amazing: just being somewhere else makes me so much healthier than I thought possible!

I will be going back and forth between epic and safe locations and the place that makes me sicker™ until I can figure out how to get medical treatments covered elsewhere. this might take a while. I am going to do my best to get stronger, because I have decided I want to die of old age! thank you for being a part of my life!

if you want to help support my never-ending quest in financial independence from an abusive situation that is seriously jeopardizing my health, you can still toss some spare coins to my ko-fi!

all of my checkmarks were gifts. I am very ill. they are like flowers to me.

why did you change your pinned post?

there are a lot of people asking me for advice for their medical emergencies. I appreciate that you think so highly of me and I am not mad at anyone for being scared. but I am not a doctor, I am not an EMT, I am not a medical helpline, I am not trained to handle this much grief, I am a terminally ill person who tells jokes online.

hey I have a new and sudden heart thing/chest pain/fluttery feeling/heart weirdness going on. what should I do?

heart disease is the most common cause of death in the world. the only way to know if your life is in immediate danger is by being checked out using specialized hospital equipment. minutes can be the difference between life or death. go to the emergency room.

should I ask for your opinion on whether or not I should go to the emergency room?

no. just go to the emergency room. you will get a free bracelet

I have an urgent medical question! should I ask you about it?

no. I am not a doctor. see if there are any nurse hotlines or insurance advice hotlines near you that may be able to give you advice.

you are cool and funny and I am financially stable and will not hurt from sending you some cash, where can I send some hot dollars?

fuck yeah I love money as high fived to me by people who will not hurt as a result. here is my ko-fi

I also have a health amazon wishlist and a non-health amazon wishlist! these go to me and are addressed to john as in, john doe.

🇺🇸tony's chocolonely chocolate bar recall due to rocks🇺🇸

literally, due to rocks. they got rocks in them

april 2, 2025

Tony’s Chocolonely Inc., a New York, New York Corporation, is voluntarily recalling seven lots of Tony’s brand Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar (6.35oz); and Everything Bar (6.35oz) because the product may contain small stones. The products were distributed nationwide and sold in the United States via retail stores and www.tonyschocolonely.com; distribution of the products began February 7, 2025 and ended March 24, 2025.

emphasis mine.

this recall only affects some lots of the dark almond sea salt bar and the everything bar, due to the rock problem. they were distributed nationwide in stores and on the internet. I included their pictures at the top.

I am not able to format a table for tumblr, so check that recall link for the specific lot codes and expiration dates.

The recall was initiated following 12 reports of consumers finding small stones in the product not filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing process. All complaints occurred outside of the United States and Canada, and no injuries were reported.

they found rocks after there were 12 reports that said hey. there are rocks in this. this can easily lead to dental problems if someone tries to bite full force on a rock and breaks a tooth or otherwise injures their mouth. dental infections can eventually become life-threatening even in people who are young and otherwise healthy. so it is a good thing nobody apparently ate the rocks yet. or at least, nobody got injured while potentially eating rocks. yet

If you have purchased one of the affected products with the specified lot codes and have not yet consumed it, you are advised not to eat the product. Please return the product to the store of purchase for a refund or replacement or dispose of the product. Please consult the following webpage to confirm how to identify the lot code and claim a refund or replacement in your market: https://us.tonyschocolonely.com/pages/recall-fo-intl-0325

emphasis mine.

please do not the rocks. thank you

This never happened in Biden's America.

if you were jealous of us here in the united states for keeping all the extra chunky chocolate to ourselves, I have some good news! there might be rocks for you, too!

that took a disproportionate amount of effort. having issues today. give me a second to update the US recall one.

shoot a reply right here if I fucked something up bad.

literal actual rocks in the chocolate. and not a fun kind!

tony's international recall announcement (this also affects the united states, which has a different recall announcement and a different tumblr post)

Tony’s Chocolonely is recalling certain batches of 3 specific products, due to the potential presence of a foreign object - small stones - in the product. Whilst the chance of any individual product being affected is low, we have decided to take this step in order to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Tony’s Chocolonely consumers. The 3 products affected are the Dark Almond Sea Salt 180g and 90g bars and the Everything (UK) Melk Karamel Amandel Noga Pretzel Zeezout (NL) Greatest Bits  (DACH) with specific lot codes.

only those three flavors: the dark almond sea salt, the everything bar, and the melk karamel amandel noga pretzel zeezout/greatest bits bar are affected and being recalled. one of the bars has two names, it seems. or I am really bad at counting. you can find these flavors pictured above being yelled at.

not all lot codes of those flavors are affected, and tony's has a helpful lot code checker tool on their international recall page.

Once we started to receive consumer complaints, we were able to trace the issue back to one of our almond suppliers. After further investigation, it appears that a new origin of almonds in a limited batch was insufficiently processed at the supplier's factory, resulting in a risk of foreign objects - small stones - being present in the final products that were made.

the reason only a few flavors are affected is because the problem was with the almonds. the almond supplier accidentally included a special extra, and that special extra was rocks! ouch!

I might not be a doctor or dentist, but this is some friendly advice from me to you: chewing on rocks, especially surprise rocks, is typically a bad idea. you might break a tooth! rock or not, untreated dental infections can affect more than just the mouth, like the brain or heart or lungs, and become serious or life-threatening. so if you have chipped a chomper with a rock, roll on over to a dentist.

other parts of your body might also have something to say if you eat too many rocks. for some superb small stone snacking, stick to salt!

Currently, we are only recalling products from the specified lot codes that have not been eaten. First, check the lot code, and if it is one of the products affected, do not eat it.  Then, please take the product back to the retailer you bought it from.  If you bought chocolate on our webshop, please go to your region's recall form page and fill out the form. You will be required to submit a photo of the packaging with the lot code so we can issue a refund.

tony's says: do not return any chocolate or accompanying rocks that you have already eaten. those should stay wherever they wound up.

really fucking severe weather is underway for much of the united states. here is a snippet of how the national weather service describes what is happening right now. the contents of this link may change in the future. this was posted april 3rd, 2025.

...Life-threatening, catastrophic, and potentially historic flash flood event continues across the Lower Ohio Valley and Mid-South to Lower Mississippi Valley...

some places are expected to get a foot or more of rain. this is not being described as catastrophic lightly.

these are storms that are expected to continue producing damaging thunderstorms and tornadoes. the combination of needing to seek shelter from these storms as low as you can go in combination with the risk of flash flooding makes this situation especially deadly.

look at this map. this is weather.gov, and that map shows you where flooding and severe weather is expected or happening. but this map takes a while to update, and these storms may change by the second. in addition to precautions that you should be taking, there is one channel I think everyone needs to know about right now.

ryan hall is a streamer that covers severe weather without commercials or interruptions. his team is often able to spot tornadoes and worsening weather before warnings get issued and before you may receive official word to take shelter.

he does not have a major livestream for every severe weather event though and do note though that he displays livestreams of storms, so the stream often contains flashing due to lightning.

I have really been impressed with his coverage, and just by watching his streams I have been able to tell people I know to take cover many minutes before sirens go off. these storms over the next few days are going to continue to be really bad. those few extra minutes can be life or death.

if you like what ryan hall and his team do, do what I am doing and share his channel with others. television weather coverage has gone to shit recently and a lot of people do not watch the news anymore and have no idea severe weather is coming until it might be too late to fully prepare. ryan hall does amazing work.

so when I posted the tony's recall I went right from the FDA announcement right. what the FDA announcement neglected to say was that it was not just the US affected. turns out it now affects over 20 countries. tony's separated the recall between the US recall and every other recall. the recall due to rocks is actually way more fucking massive than the post I made implies.

I am kind of weak and purple right now so this is going to take me a hot fucking second to get this post out. because I am most familiar with using the FDA website and might read or interpret things wrong, which is part of why I almost exclusively post US recalls. I really apologize for the delay here. is that link even the best one for this? foodsafetynews cites it so...is it good enough? maybe not as official compared to the FDA but over twenty fucking countries

the emoji banner is going to be wild. my plan is to make the non-US post separately and then link it because most people only see the top of the post at first and might think it is still US only based off of that

when I can feel my hands again I will do my best to get this out. as much as I would like to have an individual link for every country's recall that is not something I am capable of. thank you for your patience.

if people are like "why they got rocks in them" it's because rocks are sometimes used in the production of chocolate. i think it's during the winnowing stage? to get the hulls off? don't look at me i saw it on TV once long ago. but tiny remnants of stone in your chocolate isn't actually unheard of. just not usually tooth breaking size.

The recall was initiated following 12 reports of consumers finding small stones in the product not filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing process.

whatever happens with other chocolate aside they made it pretty clear in the announcement that it was because of almond harvesting and processing

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL??????

THIS IS FUCKING HUGE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FUCKING HUGE THIS IS GOING TO BE IN MAKING WHEELCHAIRS EVEN COOLER FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

WHEELCHAIRS SAVE LIVES

I talk a lot about physically active video games on the internet. and one of the most common questions I get is, "can I play this sitting down?"

a ton of people who want to play active games and could benefit greatly from them wind up avoiding popular active games because even when someone can play seated, it is rarely communicated well in the marketing, requires going through a bunch of confusing options and menus, or was very clearly not primarily designed to be played seated. it often is an afterthought, at best.

this game being about wheelchairs is fantastic. for one, positive representation of wheelchairs and wheelchair users is life-saving on its own. but second, it also makes it abundantly clear that this is an active game designed to be played while sitting.

woke up and this is still real. wow

today has been very physically painful and exhausting but at least I got to warn you about the rocks

this is ryan hall. him and his team do an amazing job covering severe weather across the united states. this is a livestream for the storms happening right now, april 2, 2025. if you are in the path of severe weather today, be prepared and stay safe!

glad this post reached you then! this channel's severe weather coverage has no commercials and no interruptions, but it does have a whole lot of mispronounced place names. one of my favorite parts of his coverage is how he goes out of his way to name places of interest in relation to where the storms are, like schools and hospitals, so people have an even better idea of where and when to shelter.

one more thing worth mentioning: this team is often able to identify tornadoes before official tornado warnings get issued. those few extra minutes can be life or death.

new stream. he will be streaming over the next several days too.
