Here’s how I built custom floating-inspired shelves with extra support for a sleek look. 🤎comment SHELF and I’ll send you my detailed supply list with links🤎 What I used: • 1/2” white oak plywood (16” deep) • 1/2” plywood strips (1 1/2” wide) or 1x2s • 2x2s for added support • 1x3 oak boards • Angle brackets for reinforcement • Wood glue, brad nails, and screws Step-by-step: -1- Stain all wood after cutting to rough dimensions. -2- Install 1/2” plywood strips (or 1x2s) along the back and sides of the shelf location, securing with a nail gun. -3- Support trick: Use angle brackets on top of the plywood strips, securing them to the studs for extra strength. -4- Attach 2x2s to the remaining studs using pocket holes for additional support. -5- Install the upper and lower shelf boards using wood glue and clamps, then secure with a nail gun. -6- Finish by facing the shelves with pre-cut 1x3 oak boards, glue them, and nail them in place. 🤎comment SHELF and I’ll send the full supply list with links Got questions?
