"The Claddagh Ring is often associated with the Celts. However, the roots of the Claddagh ring tend to indicate it is most likely an Irish design. If you are like me, you know that couple whose wedding bands are The Claddagh Ring. Correct association or not, the symbolism that radiates from this set of rings is evident the first time you see it. My research on the design was very enlightening. It has been used as a loyalty symbol, a unity symbol and a friendship symbol. Today, it is used to represent love and marriage as well. But that does not limit the uses of this xstitch pattern.
