Transformation schema: Babies are fascinated with how they can change materials, exploring cause and effect and discovering the answer to those ‘what happens if…’ questions. Tearing paper and card makes a physical change to the item whilst testing their ideas and working on their motor skills (check out the little pincer grips!). There are a few different “schemas” - which basically means they are repeating the same type of activity over and over again in order to figure out how the world works. Some babies may repeat the same type of schema over and over again for a long time, others may work through more than one schema at the same time. Often adults don’t understand schematic play and can assume that a child is ‘being naughty’ or misbehaving by ripping books, or throwing toys - when in Schematic Play, Play Schemas, Tearing Paper, Physical Change, Cause And Effect, Motor Skills, A Child, Physics, Card Making

Rotation! Does your Mini Mess Maker like watching things spin? Maybe they like watching toy car wheels go round or watching the washing machine spin. These are both very normal and it's fantastic to see their little minds working and learning. Want to help support their love of rotation? Very hard to believe, but the first day we used our log balancing beam, we simply used it for balancing. The boys were so engaged with that neat activity that they didn't even notice it's launching capability. Until Day 2. Sam stepped on the beam a little bit too quickly and noticed how fast the

15K views · 577 reactions | Play schemas are very fascinating and one of my favourite ones is the Positioning Schema. The Positioning Schema becomes evident with the desire and drive to line up items or positioning items in a particular way.

This activity is a great way to further support the Positioning Schema if you notice your child doing this during their play 😍

This activity is also great for:
⭐Fine motor skills
⭐Hand-eye coordination
⭐Early maths and number concepts
⭐Letter/name recognition

This activity is a lot of simple fun even if your kids aren’t in the habit of lining things up (because not all do). Do your kids love lining things up or did you notice them go through this play schema when they were younger?
