61K views · 17K reactions | Over my many years of being a pediatric PT, I’ve come up with these top tips &/or reasons your bebe may need help to get crawling down on all fours properly. If you want this checklist in a handout comment “checklist” For starters: 🩵Tickling the belly: it really does activate your baby’s abdominal muscles. Now if your baby already has great core muscles then great!!! They may not need this tip. But if you see the belly button touching the floor, try this to activate those abdominals:) 🩷”Trampoline park” toddler tread socks, cut off the toe. They become leg warmers. Heel goes on the knee. They stay in place. Love them for traction & padded comfort no matter what floor surface your baby is crawling on. 💙a hand under the tummy w slight pressure up can give baby the confidence they need to move ❤️ modified quadruped positioning: I know it’s a big term. What does it mean? … you’re taking gravity off the baby in flat horizontal. It helps develop extended elbows holding up trunk, core straighter/not hanging, promotes movement like rocking on all fours or heel sitting to tall kneeling. & weight on shins! 🧡increased weight on both arms, some babies never really get their body over the arms and therefore, have trouble advancing forward. This simple upside down supported position (as seen in the video) can help your baby take more weight in their upper body. Remember, do all these exercises at your own risk ⚠️. Consult with a pediatric physical or occupational therapist if you’re not comfortable. 💜weight shifting onto one arm… whoa! This one is hard!!! It’s hard to see in this video but I’m giving baby cues to transfer upper body weight onto one side. Then, the reaching is ON THE FLOOR, start w a toy flat on the floor to touch. A picture works great! (Not an iPad 🤦🏻‍♀️) 💛planking. Your baby needs to plank with their spine horizontally straight. Can try this over your leg and slowly move them out. I have another video of this if you would like to see it. 💚tall kneeling:it stretches the hip flexors, activates the hip extensors and puts weight on the shins.Points toe. THIS IS A LOWER LEG POSITION NEEDED IN CRAWLING. Continued ⬇️ | JenniferAguillard PT, PCS | Reinúr Selson · Wonderful Life

59K views · 7.6K reactions | Teething - it’s a bitch! These are some of our favourite natural teethers - some because they have an anti inflammatory and analgesic compounds - like capsicum and chamomile, some because they are nice and cold, and some because they are firm - Applying pressure to the gums can really help, which is one of the reasons why babies will try to chew on everything during this time. Just be mindful to always supervise your baby when eating, and that you offer the foods in a safe shape (your finger length shape and size or very large that they can’t fit into their mouth like resistive foods - mango pits etc). Would you add anything to the list? Did you find anything on this list helpful? List in video order: 1. Capsicum (contains capsaicin an anti inflammatory) 2. Watermelon rind (cold and firm) 3. Mumsicle (breastmilk ice-block, can be offered prior to starting solids) or other frozen fruit in silicone feeder 4. Mango pit (cold and firm) 5. Pineapple core (cold and firm) 6. Big bones - eg shank, rib, drumstick bones (firm) 7. Chamomile gummies (analgesic properties, recipe in our milk to meals book) 8. Corn on the cob (firm) 9. Broccolini (firm) 10. Silicone spoon (firm, can also refrigerate it to make cold, can be offered prior to starting solids) 11. Steak strips (firm) 12. Homemade iceblocks - pop in silicone feeder for younger babies - these are chickpea iceblocks recipe in our subscription group (cold) 13. 461K views · 9.1K reactions | Here’s how you can support your pre crawling baby 👇🏻 👋🏻 I am a pediatric occupational therapist and a mom who is passionate about early childhood. Sharing with you the building blocks to a thriving development. If your baby’s current stage involves pushing their chest off the surface, reaching with one hand while shifting weight, getting onto all fours, and rocking back and forth. These actions indicate they’re in the pre-crawling phase and are developing skills essential for crawling. Integrating simple activities during their playtime opens your baby opportunities to practice and thrive. Here’s are some helpful activities: ✨ holding a toy a little out of reach above their shoulder height ✨ rocking baby while on they are on all fours ✨weight bearing: lifting their body off the ground while they hold themselves up with their arms ✨ balance core on cushion or pillow while reaching ✨ Supported kneeling positions: playing on their knees while leaning against something ✨ sit to crawl transfer: help baby get from side sitting to all fours by playing toy on one side and moving to the opposite side. ✨ place toys out of reach/ organize them in a semi circle to encourage pivoting body in different directions/ or use toys that move ex) balls ✨✨✨ One of the most effective methods to helping your baby become more mobile is giving them a safe and open space aka FLOORTIME. All of these activities aim to enhance strength, improve balance and stability and improve coordination necessary for crawling.
