My board is about China. This board will teach about some of China's government, economy, daily life, religion, arts, and history. This affects China's everyday life.

History- Dynasties - This is China’s dynasties. The Shang dynasty was the first dynasty and is known for the early Chinese writing. During Zhou dynasty, Confucius taught people peace and harmony among one another and during Qin dynasty, China united under one Emperor. During Tang dynasty, art grew, known as the golden age. During Ming dynasty is when the Forbidden City was built and the Great Wall of strengthened.The final dynasty was the Qing dynasty.
Economy- Exports - This is China’s Exports. China exports more than it imports, it exports many things such as; clothing electronic devices, food, furniture, textiles, and toys. China’s partners in trade are the United States , Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
History- Holiday - This is Chinese New Year. It is the most important holiday in the Chinese culture. There are fifteen days. It starts the first day of the first lunar month and is celebrated with banquets, family gatherings, carnivals, dragon dances, and fireworks. On the last day there is a Lantern Festival. On the Lantern Festival, there are, performances, beautiful lanterns, and firework displays, and families gather and eat dinner, children are given red envelopes.
Language - This is China’s language. Chinese is the national language, but every region in China have their own dialect. Because of the wide range in dialect, the Chinese government deemed the mandarin dialect the official language of China. Other languages spoken in China are Mongolian, Tibetan, and Kazakh.
Religions- Faiths - This is China’s faiths. Chinese people have been known to follow Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian, Muslim, and Christian faiths. Taoism is one of the only chinese born faiths, along with Confucism although many people don’t consider it a religion because it doesn't follow a god or goddess. 96% of China’s population follows the Buddhist faith.
History- Civil War - This is China’s Civil War. The Civil War was between the Communist Party. The war started in 1946 and didn’t end until 1949. The Communists had superior military tactics and a social revolution that helped turn the tides on the Nationalists. In January 1949 the Communists captured Tianjing and the capital Beijing. By December Mao Zedong had proclaimed the establishment in Beijing of the People’s Republic of China, by then the Nationalists had fled to Taiwan.
Economy- Manufacturing - This is China’s manufacturing industry. The manufacturing industry is the largest contributor to GDP. It produces more steel than any other country. Other products include automobiles, air crafts, ships, fertilizer and other chemicals, and military equipment.
Government- Military - This is China’s Military. The Chinese military has an army, a navy, and an air force. They have over two million members and over 500,000 army reserves. Many members of the army are part of the Communist Party.
Government- Communist Party- This is of China’s Communist Party. China’s Communist Party is very powerful and dominates the government. The Communist Party has four main administrative bodies the National Party Congress, the Central Committee,the Politburo or a Political Bureau, and the Secretariat.
Arts- Painting - This is Chinese painting. Early paintings showed people, animals, or abstract designs and landscapes became the large subject of painting in A.D 900. In the Song dynasty paintings showed towering mountains and vast waters to show harmony between human spirit and nature. Calligraphy is a high respected form of art, and is linked with poetry and painting. Inscriptions on paintings often gave an insight to the artist's feelings about the scene created in his/her painting.
Arts- Jade - This is jade. China has always had a high regard for jade. The Chinese language has many words built on yu or the Chinese word for jade. Many of these words often have meanings like purity or beauty. Jade is also used in many ceremonies like the burying of the dead. Jade is also displayed in artwork pieces in homes, and it is also worn for it’s style and it’s protection against evil spirits. Jade amulets supposedly provide protection from these spirits.
Daily Life - Education - This is China’s education. Chinese children start off in an elementary school for 5 to 6 years starting when they are 6 or 7 years old. After elementary school they go on to a middle school for three years, after middle school they go on to a senior middle school for another 2 to 3 years. In China to get any higher education you must pass a nationwide examination, this examination also determines what kind of school you go to. The highest scorers go on to a university.
