Laila Masri, "Social Threads"
Artist, Marina Rey. It appeared to me that women are often alone, alone with their sorrows and disappointments, existing in a patriarchal society, and to this fact a woman is struggling to find her place, honor, integrity and respect her femininity or at least acceptance of it. That struggle makes a strong and sensual woman, sensual in the sense of being intuitive and using it as a weapon to face adversity, refusing all bids, refusing to give up.
Artist, Lisandro Ramacciotti "The main theme in my art is the human figure, which I try to synthesize, to reduce without losing movement and expression. As a painter I belong to the French tradition of the early twentieth century, however in my art there are elements and remains of Florentine and Byzantine art periods with a twist of contemporary elements. I have been an artist all my life and I am continually researching so that I can make art that is unique and recognizable"
Fatma Lootah -UAE- She always paints alone, in an artistic and bodily frenzy : “I love applying the colour with my hand or my foot and feel my creation with my whole being”. The canvas lays on the floor for Fatma Lootah never paints vertically. She paints fast for her paintings are emotions, feelings, impulsiveness. She does not fear colours and mixes them in unthinkable harmonies, contrasting hot and cold, red, yellow, blue, purple
Henry Mejia- Colombia- The artist’s creative play is full of signs, color bars, spontaneous movements and accents of the spatula or brush, gestural elements and graphics, large planes of color, atmospheric qualities, transitions between natural forms (such as fish species, flora, water, waves, skies, bright dynamics, rocks, ridges and even pre-Columbian elements) and figments of the imagination
Maria Fernanda Cuartas- Colombia- has through time worked on different expressions of art, from landscapes and still life at the beginning to abstract art and figurative later on. Now Maria Fernanda has fused together the abstract and the figurative creating a new form of art which moves from the real to the unreal, form the expected to the unexpected and from silence to solitude. There are no faces but the spectator is able to perceive how the figures see, listen and feel.
Marcos Acosta. Argentina. Marcos’s work is a permanent reflection on human beings and their relation to their environment through different media such as drawing, painting and engraving as well as installation, video and sculpture. His major concern is the permanent conflict of man with his surroundings and the divisions, which we generate as a species, in relation to nature that is an inseparable part of ourselves.
Artist Laila Masri. United Arab Emirates- Laila’s work is the combination of universal concepts and personal responses. This work has developed into two streams: mainly painting and video. Her creativity is seen in the way she uses these streams either as independent or merged media. She constantly challenges perceptions of the “other” by using this media to communicate issues to her viewers.
Emilio Fatuzzo, argentinian artist. Once I read a phrase which I liked: “If you are not you, who are you? If it’s not now, when? If it’s not here, where? And if it’s not for all, for whom?” All responsibility is ours.
