19th to early 20th century Jantar necklace, Nepal This long silver alloy (kakar-manka) necklace, a jantar, features a hollow amulet box depicting the elephant god Ganesha, which is suspended from eight woven silver wire cords, anchored in the back with a circular lotus repoussé clasp. These necklaces were worn by the wealthy married Tamang women of Nepal; traces of red puja powder remain on the two pendants.
