Sonya Sherrod
Dr. Sonya Sherrod completed her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction at Texas Tech University in 2009. She also earned a B.S. and M.A. in mathematics from Texas Tech. She has previously worked as an instructor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Texas Tech University. Sonya has presented research at AERA, SERA, and CAMT. She has published manuscripts in national in international math and science journals. Dr. Sherrod co-authored a book of math and science integrated activities for middle school students and is currently working on a second-grade mathematics curriculum that incorporates strategies to promote conceptual understanding of students with autism and other learning differences.
Dr. Sherrod was able to utilize the training she received in her doctoral program as a mathematics instructor of pre-service elementary and middle school teachers. She also has three years’ experience in providing content feedback to middle and high school mathematics teachers and coaches involved in the REFLECT project here at Texas Tech’s College of Education.
