Burns have the mental, psychological and physical impact on the sufferers. Burn patients need special care, both physical and mental, and majority of them are suffering from symptom of difficulty, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and isolation. Finding the predictors of post-burn anxiety and depression can accelerate the treatment and recovery process and maintain the mental health of the patients. The present study investigated the depression and anxiety predictors in burn patients admitted to a medical facility in northern Iran. The present study is a descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional methodology on all the burn patients (n = 611) admitted to the Velayat Subspecialty Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Center, Rasht, Iran during 2013–2019. The study tools included the demographic and clinical questionnaire and the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) for anxiety and depressio...

They usually arise in the gonads, and only 1–3 % of them arise in the mediastinum. We present a case of simultaneous multiple organs immature teratomas who was admitted to Razi hospital because of cough, dyspnea, and left-side supraclavicular mass. Computed tomography (CT) showed a big mass with multiple high densities, nodular, semi-solid, heterogenic structures on the left side of the neck, left-side anterior mediastinum, right-side middle mediastinum and right-side suprarenal region. CT-guided needle biopsy was performed and histopathological study showed immature teratoma. After performing neoadjuvant therapy, the tumors were removed. The patient underwent chemo radiation therapy on the mediastinum and abdomen. On 6-months follow-up, he was asymptomatic. This case is being reported because of the rarity of multiple organs immature teratomas and informing other clinicians about managing these cases.

For the past two decades, intravenous destruction techniques, laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) are some of these intravenous techniques which have been used as an alternative to the surgical removal of saphenous varicose veins. This cross-sectional analytical study was performed on 35 patients with venous insufficiency of the lower extremities who were referred to Razi Hospital Vascular Surgery Clinic, during the first 6 months of 2019. Patients were treated with RF and UGFS which were performed by a vascular surgeon. A checklist with necessary information was prepared for patients individually. The sexual frequency of patients with 25 cases (71.4%) was male and 10 cases (28.6%) were female. Totally, 25 cases (71.4%) were treated by sclerotherapy method and 10 cases (28.6%) were treated by RF. The results of our study showed that there was no significant differen...

The deficiency of this important nutrient may be associated with hypocalcemia after thyroidectomy. To evaluate the role of vitamin D in predicting hypocalcemia following total thyroidectomy. In this study, sixty-two patients who underwent total thyroidectomy for benign or malignant thyroid disease were included in this prospective study. Preoperative vitamin D serum levels and parathormone (PTH) levels were determined. The association between preoperative vitamin D status and the development of hypocalcemia was investigated. In this study, 62 patients were evaluated. The mean age of the subjects was 47 years. Of the 62 patients studied, of which 9 were male patients (14.5%), and 53 were female (85.5%), the results of our study showed. In both groups with and without vitamin D deficiency, calcium levels decreased significantly (P=0.01). In our study, it was found that there was no signifi...

The persend study aimed to investegite the incidence and clinical signs of post thrombotic syndrome in patients with deep vein thrombosis. Materials and methods: A descriptive retrospective study was done in patients with DVT from 2010 to 2013 in Rasht, Iran. Informed written consent was taken from the patients who were willing to participate in this research and photolithography was performed. Demographic and clinical information, underlying diseases, and photolithography results were recorded. Results: A total of 153 lower limbs was evaluated (mean age of the patients: 14 ± 50 years). In most of the samples, the DVT involvement was iliofemoral (43.1%) and the mean time from developing DVT was 2.8 ± 0.83 years. In these patients, the most common symptoms were edema (66%), telangiectasia (47.7%), and pain (43.8%)....

The aim of the current study was to evaluate outcomes and complications of uterine arterial embolization (UAE) in patients with cervical ectopic pregnancy and ectopic pregnancies caused by surgical incisions. In a retrospective study, all patients with cervical and incisional ectopic pregnancies treated by administration of methotrexate and bilateral angioembolization of the uterine artery between September 2012 and September 2017 were reviewed. Inclusion criteria include all pregnancies with abdominal or pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding or spotting with the diagnosis of cervical or incisional ectopic pregnancy undergoing the operation of uterine artery angioembolization. Mothers with a history of kidney diseases, high diastolic blood pressure, and allergy to radiocontrast agents, active hyperthyroidism, and unwillingness to undergo the surgery were excluded from the study. It commonly involves the extremities in females and the trunk in males. Cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) of the breast accounts for less than 5% of all melanomas. Case Presentation: A 60-year-old man referred with a black pigmented skin lesion (4 × 2 cm) on the periareolar skin in the upper inner quadrant of the right breast without nipple retraction. The patient mentioned that he failed medical follow-up of the lesion, which had been excised for about a year in 2016 as a CMM that resulted in its rapid growth. Examinations revealed a mole (4 cm) on the right areola and also a palpable axillary lymph node. Incisional biopsy reported malignant melanoma. After final confirmation, he underwent a modified mastectomy. The pathology report revealed that nipple and areolae were free of tumor, however, a deep margin and two axillary lymph nodes were involved, which resulted in considered adjuvant radiotherapy. Two months after the surgery, his health condition was normal without any sign of recurrent metastasis. Conclusions: In this case, the modified mastectomy was inevitably done and no recurrence or complication was observed.

Cross-sectional observational study conducted from March 2014 to March 2017 including a total of 361 outpatients followed at Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Disease, Brazil. QoL was assessed using the Portuguese shorter version of the original WHO Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF). Information about clinical CD presentation, presence of comorbidities, functional class, previous benznidazole treatment, socioeconomic profile and lifestyle was also obtained. Environment and physical domains presented the worst QoL scores, while the social relationship domain presented the highest score. Multivariate regression analysis demonstrated that variables independently associated with QoL were functional class, sex, clinical presentation of CD, sleep duration, schooling, ...
