"A mammoth feat of construction and collaboration": the Elizabeth line is shortlisted for the Stirling Prize and marked by the judges as "a major infrastructure project that sets a new standard for inner-city transport". Two years after opening, the Elizabeth line continues to be celebrated for its intuitive, effortless and accessible travel environment. The team behind line-wide design played a unique role in developing the strategy that conceptually and functionally binds together the distinct stations along the network and creates an intuitive, enjoyable travel experience. Working across the Elizabeth line the line-wide design team of Grimshaw, Maynard Design Consultancy, AtkinsRéalis and EQUATION Lighting Design was part of a wider Crossrail architectural design team, interfacing with architects across the line’s 10 new stations including John McAslan + Partners, Weston Williamson + Partners, Hawkins\Brown, Aedas, WilkinsonEyre, BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd), Adamson Associates Architects, Allies and Morrison and Fereday Pollard. The Elizabeth's line is shortlisted along with five other regeneration and restoration projects. "These projects demonstrate the ingenuity and diversity of architecture today, from major national infrastructure to brave and brilliant council-led housing, these varied schemes are united in making sensitive contributions to elevating everyday life... This is purposeful yet unassuming architecture — architecture that brings joy to people's lives and strengthens the fabric of our society." — said RIBA president Muyiwa Oki PRIBA. #RIBAAwards #RIBAStirlingPrize #RIBAAwards2024 #ElizabethLine

The final deck segment of the Colne Valley Viaduct has been successfully installed, a significant milestone in the delivery of HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd. Spanning 3.4 km, the viaduct is now the longest railway bridge in the UK and a critical connection in the HS2 network, spanning a diverse area of countryside across the Colne Valley. It will carry high speed trains at speeds of up to 320km/h (200 mph). Align D, comprising Jacobs, Rendel Ingerop Pty Ltd, Align Technology and Grimshaw, led the design of the viaduct, from tender design through to scheme and detailed design, with the construction led by the Align JV — Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd and their subcontractors VSL International Ltd., Kilnbridge and KELLER VSL JV amongst others. With the works starting on the deck in May 2022, the design and delivery of Colne Valley Viaduct is a feat of engineering, design, construction and collaboration. A fantastic achievement — congratulations to the whole team! #HS2 #railwayengineering #infrastructure

Recognised for its 'strong growth story and operational performance', iGA Istanbul Airport has been honoured with the ACI World - Airports Council International Best Airport Award: Over 40 Million Passengers. Opened in 2018, Grimshaw's concept design for the airport, created in collaboration with Nordic Office of Architecture Norway and Haptic Architects, draws on the architectural character of Istanbul — a city rich with colour, pattern and history since its Byzantine origins — and includes vaulted ceilings pierced with skylights that draw in diffuse daylight and create an open, lofty volume with clear lines of sight. Congratulations to everyone involved in making Istanbul Airport the standard for international, modern, and highly efficient airports. #IstanbulAirport #ACIawards #BestAirport #AviationExcellence
