England, the birthplace of Shakespeare & The Beatles - is a country in the British Isles bordering Scotland & Wales. Other large cities are Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol & the university centres of Oxford & Cambridge. Wales is a country in southwest Great Britain known for its rugged coastline, mountainous National Parks, distinctive language & Celtic Culture. Cardiff, the capital, is a refined coastal city with a nightlife scene & a medieval castle with ornate Gothic Revival interiors. Also to the south is Gower Peninsula, with beaches at Swanse & Rhossili Bays offering surfing & other water sports.
