Dancing Kernals you just need water, baking soda, vinegar, Kernals. Mix together and watch them jump around! When the vinegar and baking soda are combined, they create a gas (carbon dioxide) which causes bubbles and pushes the corn to the surface. They then sink and it happens over and over! 

The DIY lava lamps you need oil, water, acrylic paint and seltzer tablet. The reaction you see is similar in that the seltzer tablets causes bubbles to push the paint to the top which then sink again and create a lava lamp effect.
