Quantrill's Class
Born in Ohio, the eldest of 12 children, William Quantrill taught school off and on before turning to raiding in the “Bloody Kansas” corridor of the Civil War. His young charges included future outlaws Jesse and Frank James and Cole Younger, not to mention “Bloody Bill” Anderson, among others. He taught them all well.

William Quantrill

Jose Chavez y Chavez, 1851-1924. A minor outlaw in New Mexico, he joined the Regulators and later became a member of Billy the Kid's gang. After the death of Billy the Kid, Chavez joined a couple of hispanic gangs in New Mexico and was involved in several murders. In 1894, he was tried and sentenced to death, and then to life in prison. In 1909, he was granted a pardon by the governor. He then lived a quiet life until 1924, when he died at home.
