#ESAWebbPartyContest

Lisa's space-themed Halloween party concept. My party would take place outside in the garden at night. Pumpkins with Webb honeycomb cutouts would light the way and a warming firepit would be placed in the middle with soft cushions and blankets to snuggle on. There would be party games for the kids; how to build a rocket, spot the stars and build your own Webb. Everyone would be dressed in space/Halloween outfits with lots of silver foil and homemade rocket blast off packs on our backs.

Spacesuit for the ground
Not a spacesuit but a SCAPE suit – standing for ‘Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble’. Technicians don these suits before filling satellites with the toxic hydrazine fuel used for manoeuvres in space. This one was snapped by Portuguese photographer Edgar Martins at ESA’s Spaceport in French Guiana. Martins’ long-exposure photos – taken with analogue wide film cameras – possess a stark, reverent style. Image: Edgar Martins
