Meltdowns are not tantrums, we do not choose to have a meltdown...it's not behavioural, to get attention or to get our own way. As a 30 year old I don't choose to cry like a baby in public over what seems like nothing to others, to lose my ability to talk or communicate for hours, struggle to function normally for up to a week after a meltdown, or see major regression in my autism symptoms after a big meltdown...it's an uncontrollable neurological response.
