In a current experiment we were testing CommonGen dataset for structure-to-text task from GEM liv... more In a current experiment we were testing CommonGen dataset for structure-to-text task from GEM living benchmark with the constraint based POINTER model. POINTER represents a hybrid architecture, combining insertion-based and transformer paradigms, predicting the token and the insertion position at the same time. The text is therefore generated gradually in a parallel non-autoregressive manner, given the set of keywords. The pretrained model was fine-tuned on a training split of the CommonGen dataset and the generation result was compared to the validation and challenge splits. The received metrics outputs, which measure lexical equivalence, semantic similarity and diversity, are discussed in details in a present system description.

The problem of knowledge representation methods became important with development of e-learning e... more The problem of knowledge representation methods became important with development of e-learning education. One of the methods is based on associative approach and consists of application of different forms of visualizations. Another method is based on activity approach and consists of the use of interactive on-line applications. The second method is widely used in programming languages learning, however such a method is rarely applied in on-line harmony learning. For such a reason we invented a range of interactive activities and compared the above-mentioned methods for harmony learning in the Moodle platform for distance education. Article presents a new system of knowledge representation in music harmony with use of graph theo... more Article presents a new system of knowledge representation in music harmony with use of graph theory. All diatonic passing progressions are joined into one network where each frame unit represents a chord. The graph unit consists of two tops filled out with seventh chord of specified degree and its inversion. Three arcs between these tops are filled out with possible passing chords, which are triads and triad inversions. The row of the graphs for the seventh chord of specified degree with all its inversions form the horizontal triad. These horizontal triads for all seven degrees of the diatonic scale are shifted from the left to the right below each other on the base of the same passing chords within the arcs. Formed in this way vertical triads allow to pass from the top of the one horizontal triad to the top of the other horizontal triad using the same arc's values (passing chords). Such a calculative approach of creation is a reflection of the informational society and more specifically – of the logic used in modern programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python, Processing etc. The existing approaches of computational musicology or basically mathematical approaches partly allow to discover and to represent the algorithms under which the compositions were created. However in particular cases it is not sufficient to correctly display these algorithms. Thus, a new method of music representation formalization will be presented. This method is based on the use of statements originating from programming languages to logically represent the occurring processes, including form building, in Pärt’s compositions. This article examines the context of contemporary arts both in music and in visual arts linking t... more This article examines the context of contemporary arts both in music and in visual arts linking them with the social mental needs described by postmodern philosophers. Such concepts as "mental structures" or "cultural algorithm" used by the American anthropologist Clifford Geertz for ethnological studies of cultures are used in this study to find and to describe recurring characteristics in the postmodern cultural space. The author finds three of such psychological structures of postmodern society: the search for authenticity, the search for naturalness and the search for transcendence, some of which correlate with statements of the French postmodern sociologist, philosopher and cultural theorist Jean Baudrillard.

The problem of correlation between modern and postmodern features in the work of Arvo Pärt is the... more The problem of correlation between modern and postmodern features in the work of Arvo Pärt is the main research problem considered in the article. Close relation between the Middle Age art and the Paleolitic culture as well as between postmodern directions of music, like minimalism, Sacra Nova and meditative music, appears with the graphic analysis of the Pärt’s organ piece “Mein Weg”. In this article was made the attempt to uncover the meaning of use of the structure, which is entirely subordinated to the graphical lines. The use of symmetric transformations categories of movement and rhythmic repetitions are also considered in the perspective of tintinnabuli’s composition technology, as well as in the perspective of postmodern paradigm too.

Music theory data, especially the structure of music works, acquires a special attention in such a context. The significant application implementation of electronic music structure visualization was done by the GRM group in the 'Acousmographe' application which presents different kind of texture as graphical figures of different configurations. Martin Wattenberg attempts to analyze the structure of the written music in his 'The Shape of Song' application, where repeated, identical passages of a composition are connected by translucent arches. Such a method works with simple one-line melody data, however, complex structures with polyphonic features need other approaches. A recent development of music theory focuses basically on neo-riemannian angle of harmonic analys... more A recent development of music theory focuses basically on neo-riemannian angle of harmonic analysis with the use of Tonnetz as a space for harmonic change representation. However the Tonnetz does not cover the functional relations between accords within tonality and is feebly suitable to capture the features of neo-tonal postmodern music based on a new use of tonal functionality. This work presents an alternative method for music harmony progressions representation and analysis which uses two levels of representation. The first level is represented as a system of horizontal and vertical triads of graphs where each graph is an exo-frame filled out by information of specified degree of the scale. The graph pattern in this system represents the specified segment of harmonic progression taken from harmonic analysis of the musical composition. The pattern is then schematized for the second level of representation which examines its structural resemblance to the other schemas received similarly from the segments of harmonic progression. In order to facilitate the understanding of a new methodology and encourage its use in tonal harmony analysis an Android application for tablets called Schemographe has been created. The application presents the possibilities of the system on the two described levels of representation on example of three vocal pieces by neo-tonal postmodern composer Valentin Silvestrov.
