Gabriele Bitelli
Full Professor of Geomatics Engineering at Bologna University (Italy) since 2002, Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM).
His teaching experience is related to modern surveying methods in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry and LiDAR, GIS, DTM, Geomatics techniques for Cultural Heritage applications. He supervised and co-supervised more than 180 Master theses and 18 Ph.D. dissertations.
He is actively engaged in a broad spectrum of research areas in geo-spatial data acquisition/management and Geomatics Engineering. The main research interests are related to Remote Sensing for disaster mitigation and environmental change detection, topographic and photogrammetric surveying and monitoring with modern geomatic techniques, applications of geo-spatial techniques for Cultural Heritage, deformation control for structures and territory, 3D modeling, LiDAR data management, applications of thermal imagery, digital approaches for historical cartography, Forensic Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems.
He has been Principal Investigator or Scientific Responsible of Research Units for various EU and national research projects, and Coordinator of the Italian National Association of Professors in Surveying and Mapping. He is member of different scientific Associations, Commissions and Working Groups.
Reviewer for many scientific Journals, he has been component of the Scientific Committee for various National and International Workshops.
He authored or co-authored about 350 national and international scientific papers.
