The search for sustainable development occurs through participatory management, in which mobility, accessibility, and quality of life are allied to experiences in the destination, in order to satisfy residents and tourists. Therefore, this work aims to evaluate Curitiba and Malaga, in a comparative way, as an intelligent tourist destination, based on criteria of virtual accessibility. O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o aglomerado produtivo das indústrias têxteis do mun... more O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o aglomerado produtivo das indústrias têxteis do município de Formiga (MG) visando identificar se as empresas deste aglomerado possuem características conjunturais que possam determiná-las como um Arranjo Produtivo Local (APL). Para tanto, adotou-se uma metodologia de identificação de APLs inovadora que compreende, não apenas a análise da concentração locacional e setorial, mas a averiguação da existência de processos de interação, cooperação e aprendizagem. A partir da aplicação de questionários com as empresas do setor evidenciou-se um baixo processo de interação e de cooperação entre asmesmas. Dessa forma, os resultados encontrados indicam que o aglomerado em análise não pode ser caracterizado como um APL consolidado, não conseguindo valer-se das vantagens inerentes ao mesmo, como o partilhamento na aquisição e uso de recursos comuns de produção,

Os destinos turísticos inteligentes inovam por meio do uso da tecnologia como instrumento de gest... more Os destinos turísticos inteligentes inovam por meio do uso da tecnologia como instrumento de gestão e planejamento, provendo informações para os gestores, comunidade e turistas. A busca do desenvolvimento sustentável se dá por meio da gestão participativa, na qual a mobilidade, a acessibilidade e a qualidade de vida estejam aliadas às experiências no destino, de forma a satisfazer residentes e turistas. Portanto este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar Curitiba e Málaga, de forma comparativa, como destino turístico inteligente, tendo por base critérios de acessibilidade virtual. Para tanto fez-se uso de métodos qualitativos, descritivos e exploratórios cujas principais técnicas de coleta de dados foram: pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, registro por meio de roteiro de investigação em websites oficiais de turismo. As análises se deram por meio do emparelhamento teórico-prático. Observou-se que ambas as cidades, Curitiba e Málaga, estão desenvolvendo ações com objetivo de serem reconhecidas como destinos turísticos inteligentes, quanto aos critérios de acessibilidade virtual.

The landscape is what is seen in a particular place, the way in which the space is arranged, and the range of geographical elements in a place. Landscape can be classified as either natural or urban. As it is a representation of the space, the landscape is a dynamic element that is transformed over time. This article seeks to analyze the urban landscape of Irati – Parana, as a tourism attraction. The research approach is characterized as quali-quantitative; in relation to the objectives, it is classified as descriptive and explanatory, and, as for the procedures, as documentary research and case study. In this study we demonstrate simple guidelines to generate a diverse range of fluorescent materia... more In this study we demonstrate simple guidelines to generate a diverse range of fluorescent materials in both liquid and solid state by focusing on the most popular C-dots precursors, i.e. the binary systems of citric acid and urea. The pyrolytic treatment of those precursors combined with standard size separation techniques (dialysis and filtration), leads to four distinct families of photoluminescent materials in which the emissive signal predominantly arises from C-dots with embedded fluorophores, cyanuric acid-rich C-dots, a blend of molecular fluorophores and a mixture of C-dots with unbound molecular fluorophores, respectively. Within each one of those families the chemical composition and the optical properties of their members can be fine-tuned by adjusting the molar ratio of the reactants. Assim, a presente pesquisa, de caráter qualitativo, teve como objetivo investigar a visitação pública no Monumento Natural Salto São João, localizado no município de Prudentópolis/PR. Utilizando-se de pesquisas bibliográficas e de campo, verificaram-se os procedimentos de agendamento e de visitação na unidade, os quais se mostraram os mesmos, independentemente, do perfil dos visitantes. Durante o trabalho de campo verificou-se que a trilha possui baixo grau de dificuldade e estruturada, onde é possível verificar os elementos ambientais passiveis de serem abordados por uma abordagem educacional. We disclose a green, cost and time effective approach to impart photoluminescent properties to a ... more We disclose a green, cost and time effective approach to impart photoluminescent properties to a range of polymeric materials, an otherwise solvent-intensive and tedious process. Our strategy relies on the thermal treatment of ethanolamine (a carbon and nitrogen-rich precursor) well dispersed within a polymer matrix and gives rise to fluorescent C-dot based nanocomposites, without compromising the physicochemical characteristics of the matrix. The strategy affords at least 20% conversion of the precursor towards fluorescent nanoparticles, eliminates the use of toxic chemicals and is thoroughly compatible with melt processing technologies routinely used in industry. While we focus here on polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) nanocomposites, the approach is general and applicable to a variety of thermally stable polymers. The C-dots formed in situ within the PEG matrix have diameters in the range 1-40 nm (as revealed by TEM) and exhibit quantum yield 11% in water compared to 3% for the PE-derived nanoparticles.

The study focuses on the development of a new family of layer-by-layer coatings comprising Nafion... more The study focuses on the development of a new family of layer-by-layer coatings comprising Nafion, lysozyme and chitosan to address challenges related to microbial contamination. Circular dichroism was employed to gain insights on the interactions of the building blocks at the molecular level. Quartz crystal microbalance tests were used to monitor in real time the build-up of multilayer coatings, while atomic force microscopy, contact angle and surface zeta potential measurements were performed to assess the surface characteristics of the multilayer assemblies. Remarkably, the nanocoated surfaces show almost 100% reduction in the population of both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The study suggests that Nafion based synergistic platforms can offer an effective line of defence against bacteria, facilitating antimicrobial mechanisms that go beyond the concept of exclusion zone.

Boron-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (B-MWCNTs) were synthesized, treated with hydrochloric ... more Boron-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (B-MWCNTs) were synthesized, treated with hydrochloric acid, "piranha" solution, and decorated with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). B-MWCNTs were characterized using Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron-and transmission electron microscopy, and electrochemical techniques. The results exhibit enhanced response and sensitivity of B-MWCNTs upon modification with AuNPs. Analysis of dopamine (DA) and epinephrine (EP) in presence of uric acid (UA) was investigated on B-MWCNTs/AuNPs in pig blood serum. Limits of detection of 0.20 and 0.30 μM were estimated for DA and EP, respectively. The findings demonstrate that B-MWCNTs/AuNPs is proper for analysis of DA and EP under coexistence of UA.

Em Curitiba, os estabelecimentos comerciais de souvenirs se localizam próximos aos principais atrativos turísticos da cidade, contribuindo as experiências dos visitantes. Entende-se que os estabelecimentos comerciais de souvenirs são espaços onde os turistas podem viver diversas experiências. Efforts on this research area have been focused on assuring isolation between co-resident virtual machines to avoid escaping the sandbox, but less attention has been given to the implications virtualization may pose to the efficiency and quality of random number generation on guests. On Linux distributions, the good provisioning of entropy gathered by the kernel is crucial for the functioning of its random number generator. However, entropy sources may be scarce on virtual machines due to the abstraction implied by the virtualization layer. As a consequence, both the generation speed and the quality of random numbers might drop when compared to hosts. This paper looks into this issue and analyzes the outputs of the /dev/random interface of the Linux kernel on virtual machines. With a well-know statistical library it is shown that the outputs are of high quality and are independently generated, even though they are produced on a slower basis.

In the last few years, the appealing features of cloud computing have been fueling the integratio... more In the last few years, the appealing features of cloud computing have been fueling the integration of cloud environments in the industry, which has been consequently motivating the research on related technologies by both the industry and the academia. The possibility of paying-as-you-go mixed with an on-demand elastic operation is changing the enterprise computing model, shifting on-premises infrastructures to offpremises data centers, accessed over the Internet and managed by cloud hosting providers. Regardless of its advantages, the transition to this computing paradigm raises security concerns, which are the subject of several studies. Besides of the issues derived from web technologies and the Internet, clouds introduce new issues that should be cleared out first in order to further allow the number of cloud deployments to increase. This paper surveys the works on cloud security issues, making a comprehensive review of the literature on the subject. It addresses several key topics, namely vulnerabilities, threats and attacks, proposing a taxonomy for their classification. It also contains a thorough review of the main concepts concerning the security state of cloud environments and discusses several open research topics.

RESUMO Este artigo apresenta os resultados iniciais do projeto de pesquisa "O sistema S e os novo... more RESUMO Este artigo apresenta os resultados iniciais do projeto de pesquisa "O sistema S e os novos desafios da Qualificação Profissional na Paraíba". Inicialmente, apresenta um panorama das principais mudanças que vêm ocorrendo mundialmente nas relações de trabalho e suas implicações para a qualificação profissional. Na seqüência, tenta situar o papel histórico do Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial (SENAI) diante da industrialização brasileira, mais particularmente frente à realidade econômica específica regional e local, do Nordeste e de Campina Grande, respectivamente. Por fim, sistematiza os primeiros resultados da pesquisa, indicando elementos da trajetória do SENAI na Paraíba e as principais mudanças pelas quais vem passando.
