Carol Mann

Carol Mann, born in London, based in Paris holds a Ph.D in sociology, from the EHESS, specialized in Gender and Armed Conflict , is a researcher and professor affiliated with the University of Paris 8 . She combines academic research, writing and publishing both in English and French with aid projects involving grass-roots women's associations in war zones in, amongst others, Bosnia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, D.R. Congo, Lebanon, Armenia, Ukraine. Her international conferences, always set in conflict zones,  bring to together activists, aid professionals, academics and local women's groups. She has published numerous studies and articles in France, US and UK on different aspects of Gender and Armed Conflict. The humanitarian projects are run by her NGO FemAid. Her latest project has been setting up the Afghan University in Exile from September 2021, an alternative education system for girls deprived of schooling in Afghanistan. cmann@femaid.org
