The purpose of the paper is to make a comparative analysis of the neural model reference control with the linear control for angular positioning of mechanical parts. The structure of the neural model reference control system and its design are presented. Transient characteristics obtained are compared from the point of view of their control efficiency criteria. The differences in performance criteria between the control methods studied are small.

Meeting this demand in a way that has minimal impact on the environment will require the implementation of advanced technologies. Genome editing of livestock is a tool that will allow breeders to improve animal welfare, performance and efficiency, paving the way to a more sustainable future for livestock agriculture. Currently, genome editing of livestock is limited to specialized laboratories due to the complexity of techniques available for the delivery of genome editing reagents into zygotes and reproductive cells. The emergence of three cutting-edge reproductive technologies-(i) zygote electroporation, (ii) zygote transduction of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV), and (iii) surrogate sire technology-will provide livestock breeders with a new toolkit of delivery strategies for genome editing. The simplicity of these technologies will enable widespread on-farm application in major livestock species by seamlessly integrating into current breeding systems. We believe it is timely to highlight these three cutting-edge reproductive technologies for genome editing and have outlined pipelines for their implementation in on-farm settings. With a nuanced regulatory framework these technologies could fast-track livestock genetic gain and help secure a sustainable future for livestock.

Basically, we will compare at each moment the sensor's output with its estimated value computed by an autoregressive predictor. In case the difference between the two values is higher then a chosen threshold, the sensor node becomes suspicious and a decision block is activated.

Modeling and simulation of electric drive control systems based on fuzzy logic is an important step in design and development. This chapter provides a complete means of modeling and simulation of fuzzy control systems for DC motors, induction motors, and permanent magnet synchronous motors, made in the Matlab/Simulink program environment, useful for performing complex analyzes. The functioning of the programs is demonstrated by an example of characteristics obtained practically, with a functioning regime often encountered in practice.

In this paper we propose an integrated strategy that is meant to discover malicious nodes within a sensor network and to expel them from the network using a node self-destruction procedure. Basically, we will compare every sensor reading with its estimated values provided by two predictors: an autoregressive predictor [1] that uses past values provided by the sensor under investigation and a neural predictor that uses past values provided by adjacent nodes. In case the absolute difference between the measured and the estimated values are greater then a chosen threshold, the sensor node becomes suspicious and a decision block is activated. If this block decides that the node is malicious, a self-destruction procedure will be started.

In this paper we considered that a new phase (self-destruction) must be included as a final stage in the WSN lifecycle in order to assure the confidentiality regarding information like: network topology, type of measurement data gathered by sensors, encryption/authentication algorithms and key-exchange mechanisms, etc. that can be unveiled through reverse engineering methods. Moreover, we presented a new procedure that implements this new lifecycle phase on a cluster-tree network topology.

The virtual instrumentation allows the treatment of physical variables communicating with instruments as programs from a PC. The sensor networks may be placed in the areas of distributed parameter systems and they may be seen as distributed measuring sensors for the physical variables of distributed parameter systems, in space. Some applications, for the most usual distributed parameter systems as: the heat transfer in space, motion of vehicles, atmosphere pressure and noise accoustic intensity are illustrated with examples of virtual instruments, build using LabView. The developed technical solutions allow the implementation of the multivariable estimation techniques in fault detection and diagnosis in distributed parameter systems. The paper offers practical answers at questions related to the design of speed control systems based on fuzzy PI speed controller: what is the adequate structure of fuzzy controller, the number of rules fuzzy values, how to assure stability, implementation, control system quality criteria. The conventional design method for the linear speed control systems is presented as a comparison base. An example of fuzzy control systems for d.c. drives is given, with its modelling, simulation, design, transient characteristics and quality criteria.

The paper presents some methods, with a higher grade of generality, to design PI fuzzy controllers, to assure internal and external stability to control systems and better control quality criteria. Families of input-output transfer characteristics and gain characteristics of fuzzy blocks are used in the design procedures. An equivalence of PI fuzzy controller with linear PID controllers is done in a first approximation. Then, the fuzzy controller is design to assure absolute global internal stability and external BIBO stability of control systems. An application is presented with modeling and simulations. Results of simulation demonstrate the advantages of these design methods, assuring better quality control criteria and robustness at error in parameter estimation and at disturbance influence for the control systems.

Moreover, in case of video surveillance, localization includes not only spatial coordination but also cameras direction and video-field overlap estimation. Accurate methods involve expensive and power consuming hardware. This paper presents an efficient node localization including video-field overlap estimation that employs image registration in order to align images quasi-simultaneously acquired from different video sensors. A SIFT algorithm is used to discover common features between pairs of images. Experimental and simulation evaluation shows the estimation accuracy comparing with a manual approach.

The stability is assured based on a compensation of the input-output characteristic of the fuzzy blocks used in PI fuzzy controller. The compensation is made on fuzzy control law by the action in parallel of a crisp block for non-linear parts of input saturations. Stability analysis of fuzzy control systems for general processes is framed in the field of non-linear systems. The paper presents the way to prove absolute global internal stability in general cases. The correction principle is theoretically substantiated and methodologically structured with application at the fuzzy control of the second order processes.

In this paper the rotor faults are detected by investigating the spectrum of the flux linkage of the stator windings. A diagnostic method to detect how serious the rotor damage is has been proposed and developed. The simulation algorithm has been written in MATLAB using a modular construction based on a flowchart.

The advantages of fuzzy control are better quality control criteria and robustness at error in parameter estimation and at disturbance influence. The paper presents some general methods to design PID fuzzy controllers using families of input-output transfer characteristics of fuzzy blocks and gain characteristics. Based on these transfer characteristics we may do a pseudo-equivalence of PID fuzzy controllers with linear PID controllers. Also, the paper presents the way of fuzzy controller design to assure absolute global internal stability of fuzzy control system. Some applications are presented with modeling and simulations for a large class: PI, PD and PID fuzzy controllers. Results of simulation demonstrate the viability of the design methods.

Base on the localized vector measurements provided by sensor nodes, this paper offers an efficient methodology to identify vector time series in any location within the wireless sensor network coverage. The methodology is confirmed by a simulation case study regarding wind speed prediction.

These miniaturized intelligent sensors may be placed in the area of multivariable distributed parameter systems and even with limited resources of energy, memory, computational power and bandwidth they may add to solve applications on a large space. Multivariable estimation techniques are easier to applied when a multi-sensor network is used. Bayesian networks bring their main characteristics as graphic models with a node topology and treating information by probabilistic inference. The usage of Bayesian networks is chosen considering the distributed parameter system as a system with continuous variable, but digitally surveyed in discrete time, the sensor placed to measure the time variation of system variables been affecte...
This paper presents a study upon the design of 2D chaotic trajectories for an intelligent vehicle... more This paper presents a study upon the design of 2D chaotic trajectories for an intelligent vehicle based on two points of interest that has to be monitored, in the case that the vehicle position in the field has to remain unpredictable. To reach this goal, we started from a classical 3D chaotic system - Lorenz system, and projected it into xOy plane. After that, using a rotation and a scale transformation we placed the two attractors exactly in the positions of the mentioned points of interest. By this, we obtained a trajectory that can monitor both points of interest with a single intelligent vehicle.
