public sphere, we may wonder whether highly important figures in the configuration of this public sphere –politicians, for instance– do understand the new possibilities that technologies enable to enhance the communication with the people they rule. This paper aims at contributing to the debate between those who defend the potential of this microblogging tool, and those who prove with their studies that those actors that are using it are not making the most of this potential. In order to do so, we have analysed how Twitter was used by Spanish political leaders during the European Elections of 2014. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies will be used to fully analyse their discourses.
