This paper describes the dynamic analysis of mono leaf double tapered composite spring made of E-glass/epoxy polymer material. Both analytical and experimental studies on modal analysis were conducted. Three fibre volume fractions of 0.6, 0.5 and 0.4 are chosen for the composite. A finite element model of mono leaf composite spring of optimized geometry is generated. A modal analysis is carried out using numerical analysis ANSYS software. Analysis results are further validated by conducting modal characterization test using Fast Fourier Transform analyzer test set-up. Modal parameters are estimated from the test results which are helpful in formulating a mathematical dynamic model. Comparison of analysis and experimental results are made and the suitability of composite spring is verified to replace steel spring.

This research was focused on reducing lift-induced drag at the flaps of the aero foil and to improve the design to achieve the optimum aerodynamic efficiency. The design of an aircraft is a prolonged process that consists mainly of three design phases which are: the conceptual design, the preliminary design, and the detailed design. The phase of conceptual design, which is the umbrella of the present research, deals mainly with developing a layout of the aircraft's external geometry, major systems and components; and determining the gross weight and the performance characteristics that the airplane must have in order to achieve its design goals. The main objective of the present paper is to introduce an environment for a real time simulation of the aircraft motion ba...

Lightweight, high performing and durable composites offer energy efficient solutions with lower environmental impact and reduced through-life costs for asset owners. Versatile pultruded composites enable the cost effective product ion of new design concepts for vehicle interior and exterior parts as well as a vast range of infrastructure applications. Growing populations, accelerating urbanization, resource scarcity and climate change are some of the critical challenges facing the world today. More sustainable mobility solutions will be essential to tackle these issues. The use of composite materials for rail cab applications has traditionally been driven by the need to produce a lightweight aerodynamic cab structure of complex geometry. This composite shell provides some protection to the cab and its occupant from very low energy projectile impacts. However, such struc...

The simulations are carried out for different ram velocities, coefficient of frictions and die angles. The simulation results of temperature, extrusion load, extrusion ratio and blank velocity are presented. Consequently optimization has been carried out for to minimize the temperature and to minimize extrusion load using Taguchi’s technique. The present work deals with the different approaches; one is a statistical method, i.e., Taguchi orthogonal array and the one is an evolutionary algorithm, i.e., Particle Swarm Optimization in order to determine optimal values of logarithmic strain, die angle and friction coefficient with a purpose to find minimum Extrusion force. With the optimal values obtained in both the techniques, a three dimensional model is developed and analysi...

But the issue is that conventional trains create too much noise and pollution. Also the world is becoming a smaller place for business. As such, people travel longer distances, more often, and so there are longer travel times. This leads to too much fossil fuel consumption and that rate is increasing. That is why some people say, in the next 50 years, that the fossil fuel resource is going to run out. Faster fuel consumption also leads to increased pollution in the environment. So in short, we need travel times to be made shorter and we need a renewable energy source which is clean. A method of supporting and transporting objects or vehicles which is based on the physical property that the force between two magnetized bodies is inversely proportional to their distance. By using this magnetic force to counterbalance the gravitational pull, a stable and contactless suspension ...

Due to this high porosity, aerogels have exceptional properties such as low density, low dielectric constant and low thermal conductivity. Traditional Silica Aerogels, however, have limited use as thermal insulation material because of its cost. The present study is aimed at investigation of mechanical properties such as Tensile Strength, Stiffness and Compressive Strength of Aluminium Hydroxide / Epoxy composite filled with Silica Aerogel material. The Thermal Conductivity is also evaluated experimentally. As per ASTM standards, the test specimen’s preparation and testing is carried out, and results are presented.

Weight reduction can be achieved primarily by the introduction of better material, design optimization and better manufacturing processes. In this paper main focus is to review all such work in which the weight reduction of the vehicle was achieved by considering leaf spring. Many of authors suggested that weight reduction can be achieved by using composite material having suitable properties and capable of carrying such heavy load of the vehicle. Different methods for analysing and manufacturing for composite leaf spring are also discussed. It was shown that the weight reduction can be easily achieved but there are more aspects which should also be consider i.e. cost, new composite materials. Keywords— leaf spring, composite material E-glass/Epoxy.

In addition, regulatory pressures to reduce urban pollution, CO2 emissions and city noise have made plug-in electric vehicles a very attractive choice as the alternative to the internal combustion engine. With the invention of Internal Combustion Engine by Nicolas Otto, there was revolution in Automobile field. Later on, Petrol and Diesel became the main source of fuel for these vehicles. This technology made Human Efforts very easy through commercializing in the market. As, the world went through 20th Century, there happened many advancements for making this technology efficient and cost-effective. Due, to which it became the commercial success and its use in the day to day period increased. People could reach thousands of kilometers / miles in hours with the help of this technology. In this paper, hybrid vehicle techno...

The natural frequencies were determined using the CQUAD8 finite element of MSC/NASTRAN and comparison made between the experimental values and the finite element solution. The effects of aspect ratio, cut-out size and cut-out shape on the natural frequencies of plates were studied. The experimental values of the first, second and third natural frequencies are in good agreement with those of the finite element solution in the case of both isotropic and laminated composite plates with and without cut-outs. The non-dimensional frequency coefficient Kf are found increases with increase in length-to-cut-out size ratio (d/a) irrespective of the cut-out shape. In case of laminated composite plates, the non-dimensional frequency coefficient Kf increases monotonically with an increase in the aspect ratio irrespective of hole size and shapes for all the three modes of vibration.
