Mysterio was one of my favorite characters when I was first getting into Marvel comics, so it was a lot of fun to revisit him
Snakes have been associated symbolically with trickery and deception for many millenia, so I knew it was fitting for Quentin
I decided on a constrictor snake as I thought it fit his style of attack very well; he’s not the type of just try to punch or shoot Spider-Man, but instead prefers to ‘squeeze’ him for awhile
The green anaconda specifically just fit nicely with his color scheme, and I did decide to leave out his shirt because his costume is already kind of 'scaled’ and I liked using a snakey body to represent that patterning. Unfortunately this does mean Supercritters Mysterio goes around mostly nude
And speaking of that, I’ve decided that for limbless/non-tetrapod animals I draw, I’m going to go the mermaid route and give them upper arms but their animalistic lower body. Mysterio is the first but you’ll be getting quite a few more soon
