As a huge fan of all the original versions of this game (except the 5200), this is an amazing continuation. My first version was the C64, so I felt right at home. I will say that even though I've completed HERO and the Brazilian HERO 2, I found the difficulty curve on HiB quite steep. It would be nice to include a level skip option to let us dedicated players practice specific levels.

Been following Matze1887 for a while, so I knew about RERO and was excited to try this once it came to Windows. I played for about an hour tonight (got to level 12ish) and absolutely loved it. Definitely feels like an updated version of HERO.
Would like
- To be able to level skip similar to the 2600 version
- Built in controller support
- Option to toggle constant fire mode on/off
- A different sound effect for the laser
- Pause <- original game would not start timer until player sent input
- To blow up more stuff in the mine <- secrets would be welcome
The game crashes pretty consistently on original NTSC hardware. I also got it to freeze up 1x in VICE in NTSC mode. I haven't played it much in PAL mode on VICE, but maybe that is better. Also, the bonus game Sub Hunt '20 always seems to crash when I surface the sub. I tried to reach out to Psytronik through their FB page, but got no response. When it doesn't crash, Sub Hunter is a lot of fun. I guess you get what you pay for.
