Terra Australis reports the results of archaeological and related research within the south and east of Asia, though mainly Australia, New Guinea and island Melanesia -lands that remained terra australis incognita to generations of prehistorians. Its subject is the settlement of the diverse environments in this isolated quarter of the globe by peoples who have maintained their discrete and traditional ways of life into the recent recorded or remembered past and at times into the observable present.

It has been suggested that anthropogenic burning may have altered Southwest landscapes at a large scale. Southwestern biomes vary in their propensity for and their susceptibility to anthropogenic burning practices. Anthropogenic burning to enhance the productivity of wild plant foraging or agriculture was probably limited in scale; on the other hand, fire use in hunting, religious practice, and warfare may have impacted larger scales, though at lower intensity. Middle-elevation forests, woodlands, and grasslands were the biotic zones most likely to be impacted by anthropogenic burning, but sophisticated mimicry of natural fire regimes means that the evidence of such impact is ambiguous.

In this paper I explore the reason why fire might be chosen as a means of destruction of places, be they urban or rural, public monuments or intimate domestic places. And how can and do archaeologists and historians act as arson investigators many centuries (and millennia) after the event to determine whether the destruction is an act of domicide or of domithanasia (accidental or intentional destruction). I started my exploration of fire and house-burning in the wattle-and-daub buildings of Neolithic Southeast Europe (5000 BC) (Tringham 2005). When I began working in the much older early ceramic Neolithic mud-brick buildings of Central Anatolia at Çatalhöyük (7000 BC), I assumed that the question of burning would not be a significant research question, as is demonstrated by the Berkeley Archaeologists@-Çatalhöyük (BACH) project (Tringham and Stevanović 2012). In this chapter, I will show how miscalculated that assumption was. I had forgotten James Mellaart’s Great Fire at the end of his Level VIA at Çatalhöyük (Mellaart 1964: 115-117). Fire has been an important part of the Earth system for over 350 Myr. Humans evolved in this fiery world and are the only animals to have used and controlled fire. The interaction of mankind with fire is a complex one, with both positive and negative aspects. Humans have long used fire for heating, cooking, landscape management and agriculture, as well as for pyrotechnologies and in industrial processes over more recent centuries. Many landscapes need fire but population expansion into wildland areas creates a tension between different interest groups. Extinguishing wildfires may not always be the correct solution. A combination of factors, including the problem of invasive plants, landscape change, climate change, population growth, human health, economic, social and cultural attitudes that may be transnational make a re-evaluation of fire and mankind necessary. The Royal Society meeting on Fire and mankind was held to address these issues and the results of these deliberations are published in this volume. Chemical engineers are essential for developing, designing, and operating processes crucial to society. According to Hardigg, engineering can be made understandable to the public by discussing four major concepts: structures, machines, networks, and processes. The focus on processes is what sets chemical engineering apart from other engineering fields. However, designing chemical plants also requires input from other engineering disciplines. Students transitioning to process design need to think more globally, moving beyond their compartmentalized education, which can be challenging. One student noted that process design was a completely new way of thinking for him. To stay updated on the skills needed for process engineers, the author reads job ads. For instance, General Dynamics in San Diego seeks chemical engineers with experience in plant operations or process engineering because they bring a comprehensive process perspective and strong problem-solving abilities.
IoT is continuously one of the hottest areas that are developing at a fire speed, where all things which are used in regular life connected with the internet and can be monitored and can be operated remotely. IoT has many applications in all domains, one of the wonderful applications is in agriculture domain. Monitoring of environment parameter is very essential for maximizing the yield. In particular, monitoring various agriculture parameters such as temperature, moisture, humidity, Ph value of soli and along with other parameter which affect the crops. A traditional way of measuring these agriculture parameters means manual measurements, monitoring them at various levels and at different times. This paper deals with remote monitoring system based on IoT protocol used by different researchers to increase agriculture production and optimal utilization of resources along with the proposed system which is useful in monitoring data.
