Why would we use ePortfolios? What are students' expectations of ePortfolios? What might be barriers to their effective use? Critical questions like these are important to understand when any new technologies are introduced to the teaching and learning environment, but it is easy to instead jump right to the question of how we implement said technologies? Using the results of a research project at the University of Alberta that explored students' perceptions of ePortfolios in both undergraduate and continuing education, this session will unpack some of the opportunities, challenges and barriers associated with ePortfolio use in higher and continuing education.

Macrophotographs of the Enkomi Cup have been examined to assess the cracking damage in the Cup metal, a silver alloy. The resulting interpretations and their implications indicate that the cracks are most probably due to long-term stress corrosion that stopped well before excavation and restoration. It is concluded that no additional restoration and conservation measures are needed.

The essay reconsiders the Military Revolution theory, in the light of the most recent studies dedicated to the exchange of favour and service between sovereign power and the elites, to the imperial systems and to the dynamics in the relations between centres of power and between interest groups within polycentric monarchies during the early modern age. In particular, the argumentation focuses on the attrition war between the Habsburgs and the Valois for hegemony on the Italian peninsula, confirming the validity of Geoffrey Parker's thesis. For the great monarchies struggling for supremacy in the Euro-Mediterranean area, the resort to new and expensive offensive and defensive technologies was a stimulus to seek their subjects' consensus, by encouraging great nobles to join the patronage network of the sovereign, and by strengthening and articulating those formal structures (the court and the financial and judicial bureaucracy) which made it possible to mediate internal conflicts and to coordinate elites' contribution to the war effort.
geographical markets is of great importance for how well the company succeeds with their overall business mission. Selecting the right entry mode is an important decision that demands a lot of resources and thorough planning. When selecting entry mode a wide range of internal and external factors must be taken into consideration before making the final decision. This thesis purpose is to provide a better understanding of the impact of internal and external factors on Swedish SMEs' choice of international market entry strategies. In order to reach the purpose we constructed two research questions regarding how the internal and external factors influence firm's choice of international market entry mode. Based on the research questions, a literature review was conducted, which resulted in a conceptual framework that presented what would guide the data collection. In order to collect data, a qualitative, case study methodology was used, using a multiple case study through interviews as our main data collection tool. The main conclusions regarding the internal factors revealed in this thesis are that company size/resources limit the companies' possibilities to choose market entry modes which demands great financial resources, it also affects the management risk attitude toward being more risk averse. Further the findings suggest that even though the companies in the study do not exclude any single market entry mode, they prefer the use of entry modes from which they have previous experience. The findings also suggest that the motive for engaging in internationalization is that the domestic market is insufficient due to the size and maturity. The main conclusions regarding the external factors revealed in this thesis are that industry feasibility/viability of MEM influences the choice of market entry mode when there is an interest of a market as the company will alter their market entry mode in order to avoid legal difficulties when trying to reach the market. This is further enhanced by the factor of market barriers as they might force the company to choose a specific market entry mode in order to avoid legal difficulties when entering a new international market. Target country production factors can be overcome through effective implementation of well thought strategic plans, without affecting the companies' choice of market entry mode. Finally our findings suggest that the geographical distance influence on the choice of market entry mode decreases when the company's resources and knowledge increase.

In this study, Reduced Differential Transform Method (RDTM) is applied to some systems of nonlinear PDEs. The concept of RDTM is introduced birefly and RDTM is examined for system of nonlinear PDEs. The main advantage of the RDTM is the fact that it provides to its user an analytical approximation, in many cases an exact solution, in a rapidly convergent sequence with elegantly computed terms. Results obtained by using RDTM are compared with the exact solution of given systems and the results clearly reveal that reliability and efficiency of the RDTM. Also, results indicate that introduced method is promising for solving other type systems of nonlinear PDEs.

This article analyses a series of Arab notarial documents from the fifteenth century, with the aim of studying the damage and defects that were observed in some buildings in the city of Granada and making an inventory of them.1 The material comes from the main archives of Granada (the Archives of the University of Granada, the Archives of the Cathedral of Granada, the Municipal Historical Archives of Granada, etc.). The majority of these manuscripts are written in Arabic, and some still remain unpublished. The damages were primarily caused by disrepair or even a total lack of drainage system, overlapping construction of outbuildings, visual intrusion, smoke, or proximity to sources of pollution (e.g. baths, stables, bakeries, latrines). In most cases, they resulted in buildings falling into a state of complete ruin. This research provides new information that could be taken into account in future studies of Islamic architecture and urbanism, and it is a clear example of notarial Andalusi practice in the fifteenth century, especially with regard to the use of very specific language in their records.

The adoption of Data Networks and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) has become crucial for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. However, SMEs often face challenges such as resource limitations and security vulnerabilities, which hinder their ability to fully leverage these technologies. This systematic review examines the role of Data Networks and APIs in enhancing operational efficiency within SMEs, focusing on key metrics such as speed, cost reduction, scalability, and security challenges. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we conducted a systematic search across multiple databases including Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and Google Scholar. Studies published between 2014 and 2024, focused on SMEs and addressing the role of Data Networks and APIs in operational efficiency, were included. A total of 49 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed for key outcomes related to operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and security risks. The review found that Data Networks and APIs significantly improve operational efficiency by increasing process speed (12% increase), reducing operational costs (8% reduction), and enhancing overall productivity. However, security challenges, particularly related to API vulnerabilities, were a major concern, with cyberattacks on APIs increasing by 400% in Q1 2023 alone. Despite these risks, the benefits of implementing Data Networks and APIs in SMEs, particularly in terms of scalability and real-time data processing, were evident across industries. Data Networks and APIs offer substantial improvements in operational efficiency for SMEs, though security remains a significant challenge. Future efforts should focus on developing security frameworks tailored to SMEs while maintaining the operational benefits of these technologies. Further research is needed to explore scalable and secure API models for SMEs.
