The increasing demands of today's society are improving the quality of hygiene and the health of the people themselves. This is in line with the society needs to get convenience or simplicity in maintaining hand hygiene. It can be solved by using hand antiseptic gel (hand sanitizer). The addition of active ingredients of clove leaf oil and Aloe vera extract is needed to improve the quality of hand sanitizer gel. Clove leaf oil contains main compound of eugenol which plays an active role as an antiseptic, antimicrobial, and other pharmacological activities, as well as aloe vera extract containing saponin and tannin compounds which are functioning as antibacterial agents substituting for trichosan in the hand sanitizer gel. Metode yang dilakukan adalah eksperimen dan uji aktivitas katalitik secara langsung. Tahapan pertama dilakukan dengan pembuatan gel lidah buaya. Uji aktivitas langsung dilakukan dengan variasi tiga kali selama satu minggu. Hasil eksperimen membuktikan bahwa gel lidah buaya dapat mengatasi wajah jerawat. Kondisi optimum gel lidah buaya tercapai pada pemakaian yang ketiga. Penyembuhan ini diduga karena aktivitas katalitik gel lidah buaya terhadap wajah jerawat.
Abstrak Latar Belakang. Antiseptik adalah zat yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan dan perkembangan mikroorganisme patogen seperti virus, bakteri, parasit, dan jamur. Lidah buaya (Aloe vera L.) merupakan tanaman fungsional yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Penelitian menunjukkan lidah buaya (Aloe vera L.) memiliki kandungan saponin, flavonoid, polifenol, serta tanin yang bersifat antiseptik. Metode. Skrining fitokimia menggunakan metode uji tabung. Aloe vera diekstraksi dengan metode infundasi menggunakan akuades steril. Uji efek antiseptik pembersih tangan menggunakan infusa lidah buaya konsentrasi 150%, 250%, dan 350%. Kontrol positif menggunakan hand sanitizer sedangkan kontrol negatif menggunakan air mengalir. Sampel kuman didapat dari swab telapak tangan responden yang dimasukan kedalam tabung berisi NaCl 0,9% dan dilakukan pengenceran berseri. Suspensi kuman ditumbuhkan pada media Plate Count Agar dengan metode pour plate. Jumlah koloni kuman dihitung menggunakan colony counter dengan memenuhi Standard Plate Counts (SPC) Hasil. Infusa Aloe vera L. dapat mengurang jumlah koloni kuman pada telapak tangan dengan penurunan koloni terbanyak pada penggunaan konsentrasi 350%. Kesimpulan. Infusa Aloe vera L. dapat mengurang jumlah koloni kuman pada telapak tangan. Kata Kunci: Antiseptik, Infusa Aloe vera L., Koloni Kuman Background. An antiseptic is a substance that can inhibit the growth and development of pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi. Aloe vera L. is a functional plant which widely cultivated in Indonesia. A research shows that Aloe vera L. consist of saponins, flavonoids, polyphenols, and tannins that are antiseptic. Method. Phytochemical screening test was performed by test tube method. Aloe vera were extracted by infundation method using sterile aquadest. Testing of antiseptic hand cleaner used Aloe vera infusion with concentration 150%, 250%, and 350%. Hand sanitizer was used as positive control while negative control used running water. Germ sample was obtained from respondents hand swab which put into NaCl 0,9% tube and made serial dilutions. Germ sample cultivated on Plate Count Agar with pour plate method. Amount of germs colonies counted by colony counter in accordance with Standart Plate Counts (SPC). Result. Aloe vera L. infusion can reduce the number of germs colonies in hands with the highest colony decline on the use of 350% concentration. Conclusion. Aloe vera L. infusion can reduce the number of germs colonies on hands.

Jelly candy is one form of diversification of products aloe vera and seaweed. This study aims to get the right ratio between aloe vera and seaweed to produce jelly candies with good quality. Parameters observed in this study moisture content, ash content, pH, reducing sugar content, crude fiber content and organoleptic testing the level of preference panelist on candy jelly with aloe vera and the ratio of seaweed. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design with 3 (three) replications consisting of 5 (five) treatments are: LR1 (aloe vera 90% : 10% seaweed), LR2 (aloe vera 80% : 20% seaweed), LR3 (aloe vera 70% : 30% seaweed), LR4 (aloe vera 60% : 40% seaweed), and LR5 (aloe vera 50% : 50% seaweed). The result of analysis showed that the ratio of aloe vera and seaweed significantly effect on moisture content, ash content, reducing sugar content, and crude fiber content and not signoficantly effect on pH and the overall ratio of aloe vera and seaweed preferred by the panelists. The ratio of aloe vera and seaweed in the treatment LR4 (aloe vera 60% : 40% seaweed) is best treated with a moisture content of 16.44%, ash content 0.38%, pH 3.36, reducing sugar content 22.62%, crude fiber content of 1.44% and preferred by the panelists in organoleptic testing. Keyword: aloe vera, seaweed, jelly candy I. PENDAHULUAN Lidah buaya merupakan salah satu komoditas pertanian yang memiliki peluang besar untuk dikembangkan dalam usaha agribisnis di Indonesia. Tanaman ini biasanya hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai obat penyubur rambut, penyembuh luka, dan perawatan kulit. Peningkatan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi mengakibatkan pemanfaatan lidah buaya semakin meningkat dan berkembang (Suryowidodo, 1988). Adanya diversifikasi produk dari lidah buaya sangat diharapkan agar dapat memberikan nilai tambah bagi lidah buaya sehingga masyarakat dapat lebih tertarik untuk mengkonsumsinya dan lebih bermanfaat dalam penggunaannya. Salah satu contoh produk diversifikasi lidah buaya yaitu permen jelly. Abstrak Indometasin dikonsumsi untuk mendapatkan efek analgetik, antipiretik dan antiinflamasi, namun memiliki efek samping yang menyebabkan kerusakan mukosa gaster. Gel lidah buaya (Aloe vera) mungkin dapat memperbaiki mukosa gaster. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat pengaruh pemberian gel lidah buaya (Aloe vera) terhadap gambaran histopatologi gaster tikus wistar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari Juli 2015 sampai Januari 2016 di Animal House FK Unand dan Laboratorium Patologi Anatomi FK Unand. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tikus putih strain Wistar jantan (n=24) dan dibagi dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kontrol (indometasin 30 mg/kgBB), perlakuan 1 (indometasin + gel lidah buaya 1 ml), perlakuan 2 (indometasin + gel lidah buaya 2 ml), perlakuan 3 (indometasin + gel lidah buaya 3 ml). An antiseptic is a subtances that could inhibits the growth of pathogenic microorganism such a virus, bacteria, and fungi. Aloe vera are composed by saponin and tannin which known as antiseptic compounds so its can be using as a substitute materials for triclosan that contains in hand sanitizer. This experiment are aims to proving the performances of an Aloe vera's antiseptic in the formulation of clove's hand sanitizer. The antiseptic test is using a replication method where the samples are formulated by the different variation of Aloe vera 0%, 8%, 10%, 12%, and 14% and treated the same thing as well in formulating sample containing Aloe vera only and clove leaf oils (CLO) only, just to known which ones are the best to be adding to the formulation of hand sanitizer. The result showing that the combination gel of clove leaf oils and Aloe vera are more effective to reduce bacteria instead of basic gel only (without CLO and Aloe vera) with 39:2 as a comparing result. So the addition of Aloe vera to the formulation of hand sanitizer extract clove leaf oils are the best way to increase the ability of its antiseptic.
