Review
Good morning class.
Last time, you’ve learned about the different animals as they grow, right?
Now, I have here some pictures in the column A which are the adult animals. And what you are going to do now is to match it to column B with their correct names as they were little.
B.
a. kid
b. joey
c. kitten
d. puppy
Good morning teacher.
Yes, teacher.
b. joey
d. puppy
a. kid
c. kitten
The little kangaroo is called joey.
The little dog is called puppy.
The little goat is called kid.
And the little cat is called kitten.
2. Motivation
Now, I have here different pictures.
What can you see in the picture?
Okay, it’s a frog. How about this picture?
Very good! It’s a butterfly. How about this, what can you see in the picture?
Very good! It’s a mosquito. And now, what can you see in our last picture?
Yes, it’s a fly.
3. Presentation
Don’t you know that these animals undergo
many changes before they become an adult?
And that is what we’re going to find out today.
B. Developmental Activity
1. Activity
Class, I have an activity for you to work on. I will group you into four groups which will be the group grapes, group apple, group orange and group melon. Each group will arrange the jumbled pictures that I will give to you according to what come first, next and last. I will give you five minutes to work for it then we will check it after.
2. Analysis
According to your activity a while ago, group grapes, what do you think is the baby frog in the life cycle of frog?
A frog
A butterfly
A mosquito
A fly
Tadpole
Very good! The baby frog is called tadpole. But before it becomes a tadpole it undergoes first as an egg then it becomes a tadpole and finally an adult frog which is already the last stage.
How many changes happened to the frog before it becomes an adult frog?
That’s right! There are only three changes that happened to the frog. Therefore, the frog has an incomplete metamorphosis.
Now, let’s move to the work of group orange. In the life cycle of a butterfly, what do you think is the baby butterfly?
Very good! The baby butterfly is the caterpillar.
But before it becomes a caterpillar, it starts first as an egg then it becomes a caterpillar . A caterpillar looks like a worm . It crawls and eats leaves. Then, it becomes a pupa where it covers itself with silk, making a hard covering around itself called cocoon. When it comes out of the cocoon, it turns into a beautiful butterfly. Now, how many changes happened as it grows up?
Very good! There are four changes that happened to the butterfly as it grows up.
Therefore, it has a complete metamorphosis.
Now let’s move on to the work of group apple.
In the life cycle of a mosquito, what do you call a baby mosquito?
Correct! The baby mosquito is called a wriggler.
But before it becomes a wriggler, of course it starts first as an egg. Now, where do you think the wriggler lives?
Yes! It lives in the water. Then, it turns into a pupa until it develops its legs and wings. Its head becomes smaller and that’s what we call now a mosquito.
How many changes happened to the mosquito as it grows up?
Very good! There are also four changes that happened to the mosquito as it grows up. So, just like the butterfly, it has also a complete metamorphosis.
Three
Caterpillar
Four
Larva/wriggler
In the water
Four
Finally, let’s go to the group of group melon.
What did you notice between the adult fly from the larva or pupa?
Very good! Of course in the life cycle of a fly, it starts first as an egg. Next, it becomes a larva. Then, it turns into a pupa and lastly it becomes a fly which has already wings and legs.
How many changes happened to the fly as it grows up?
Very good! There are four changes that happened to the fly and just like the butterfly and the mosquito, it has also a complete metamorphosis.
3. Abstraction
So class, base on what you’ve learned about the life cycle of the different animals that we have discussed, what did you notice as they grow older?
What else?
How about their color and appearance?
What else?
Correct! Some more answers?
C. Post activity
1. Valuing
Like the animals, we should also do something in order for us to grow. What are those things that we should do in order for us to grow?
Yes! We should eat. What else?
That’s right! We should sleep/rest so that we will grow up.
2. Application
Answer the following:
1.
2
. 3.
4.
V. Evaluation
Direction: Identify the pictures. Encircle the letter of the correct answer.
1.
2.
3.
4.
They are different. The fly has wings while the larva/pupa has no wings.
Four
It changes.
They change in size.
It also undergo change.
They develop other body parts as they grow older.
The adult animals are different from the young ones.
We should eat.
We should sleep/rest.
VI. Assignment
