Cytoskeleton and Cell-Shape (CyCel)
We study the collective mechanics of the cytoskeleton from purified
proteins to cells and tissues, using multiple approaches (including protein biochemistry, cell
molecular biology, live-cell microscopy, computational image analysis and stochastic
simulations of cytoskeleton-motor mechanics), to understand the emergence of cell and tissue
shape. We study how the cytoskeleton undergoes dynamic rearrangements and generates
forces during cell division and differentiation. We are located in IISER Pune, a top ranked
inter-disciplinary teaching and research institute, in one of India’s most dynamic cities. You
