Caravaggio was born as Michelangelo Merisi in Italy around 1571.He was orphaned at age 11 and apprenticed with a painter in Milan. Caravaggio trained as a painter in Milan before moving in his twenties to Rome. He developed a considerable name as an artist, and as a violent, touchy and provocative man. ... Caravaggio's innovations inspired Baroque painting.Violent man often in trouble with the law and implicated in more than one murder. Even though he only lived until the age of 39, Caravaggio had a profound influence on the painters around him and on later art movements notably Baroque art and 19th-century Realism. This situation was that contribution to Italian culture.
