SCAM Potential New Authors Beware

Vigilantly and absolutely avoid the publishing company AuthorHouse! Even though I have had recurrent problems with this company, I have stayed with them for years, primarily because I am old and didn't want to waste time learning another publishing system. But my patience has its limits. Their major problem has been a lack of inhouse intellectual capability. Because of that, they have to depend on outside contractors for every little task. Consequently, you had to deal with a plethora of individuals to the point that the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing. This was the reason why they messed up several of my books. The company has no quality control, and, because of it, the quality of a publication suffers. They did not even bother reading the books. The individuals you deal with are over bureaucratic, not willing to help and even if they could, they lack the intellectual capacity to do so. As for their marketers, who pester you constantly, they don't know how to promote your books. They are only capable of selling their worthless marketing packages. Frankly, they are not even capable of preparing a press release. Making money is the main goal rather than the quality of publication. That was my experience. Nevertheless, still, I stuck with them. After they were sued for defamation and were obliged to pay several hundred thousands of dollars, they have become obsessed with copyright restrictions, to the point of absurdity.

SCAM Potential and New Authors Beware! Vigilantly and absolutely avoid the publishing company AuthorHouse! Even though I have had recurrent problems with this company, I have stayed with them for years, primarily because I am old and didn’t want to waste time learning another publishing system. As for their marketers, who pester you constantly, they don’t know how to promote your books. In my last encounter, after almost a month of procrastination, during which I was kept in the dark, the person assigned to me claimed  that the images I sent them for the cover  were under copyright restriction. I wasted my precious time in gathering evidence to the contrary and proving that the images were, in fact, used in several of my previous books  published by AuthorHouse.  Even this did not seem to satisfy her, and she had to contact her higher ups, who finally proved her wrong. She then came up with another gimmick, claiming that a number of my citations in the text may be also under copyright restrictions, even though they were supported by literary references and a detailed bibliography.  She demanded I contact each author individually and get his/her permission to use  their quotation. Considering that I had  a large number of citations, this would take me perhaps as long as a year, not to mention the fact some of the authors ‘ locations are not known. This is when I felt, Enough is Enough, and decided to cancel the project. Then began an unsuccessful battle of getting my money back. Even though they haven’t done an iota on the book, they did not have the decency to return all the money I invested in this venture. My advice is: Stay away from  AuthorHouse!
