This is a great book. I had half of the tabs years ago (they came as a welcome extra along with the original LP release of the tunes which are included on the CD), but annoyingly lost them at some point. So I bought this book to replace them.
The repertoire is fantastic (for the most part), especially if you want some challenging melodic frailing (clawhammer) tunes with some drop thumb included. There is some other useful stuff - examples of 2 finger, pre-Scruggs 3 finger, and up picking (some tunes use more than one of these four styles), and also an interesting variety of tunings, with some ideas I wouldn't have thought of (e.g. key of F out of mountain minor tuning with 5th string tuned down).
Lots of great stuff here. Love it.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 June 2020Great book.Had the Art Of the % string Banjo vinyl and wanted a hard copy of the book. I did not have the % string Banjo vinyl. Only disappointment was the the sound files were for the first LP only which I had. No sound files for the 5 string Banjo LP. Great book though. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Great overview of traditional banjo styles
I second the review above -- this a great collection of tunes and arrangements that also provides an excellent introduction to many of the lesser-known pre-bluegrass mountain styles of banjo playing. It is worth noting that the clawhammer tab, which takes up about 3/4 of the book, is definitely more sophisticated than the average beginner's guide to frailing. This is probably not the best book for the absolute beginner, although for musicians picking up the banjo for the first time it would most likely work. I would strongly recommend it to those looking to expand their old-time banjo repertoire beyond the basics.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor instruction, bad song choice
The music is more of a cheesy hokey selection than I'd have liked. No sawmill tunes. Innstruciton is sparse. I'd pass
