- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2013i got this a long time ago and i am shocked to discover that no one else has reviewed it. i found it to be the most interesting book of reviews i have read in a long, long time. the author is a good writer, but, more importantly, she loves her classic movies. she writes more about the way the movie fits into the world of the time it was made than about how good it is or how it relates to the world of now. she sees it as it was and makes the reader see it that way, too.
thank you, Ms. Lynch. a job well done. you have opened my eyes to movies i have seen before so that i see them in a new way. i appreciate your work!

5.0 out of 5 stars a book for real film buffs
i am a complete film buff.a movie obsessive.a cinema geek. The more obscure the film the better.I also like to read about neglected movies revalued and reassessed. This book goes way beyond the usual writings about established classics and looks deeper into forgotten fifties romantic comedies and film noirs.IT is an excellent book ans will never be deleted from my kindle.
