    I admit I read most of this novel (1 and 2) online as it wasn't available elsewhere. But apparently this translation is by the same person that was translating it for free for all of us fans and she/he does an amazing job. The story is a slice of life/teen romance that is truly beautiful, portraying the difficulties and joys of living in a small town with multiple hardships and finding the person who helps make everything worthwhile. I've heard the dongua is worth reading too but as soon as I saw there were official translations coming I preordered because where else would I have the opportunity to finally support the author. I highly recommend this book no matter what age you are. It is a joy to read.

    So I’ve read the manhua probably up until 50% mark of this book because the artwork is beautiful. Reading it made a lot more sense of the story. Also I’ve read other light novels where I think things get goofy or confused and not sure if it’s the writing style or translation but I did not feel that way at all with this novel.

    The relationship building in this is PERFECT. It’s slow and I like it. It’s definitely a slice of life genre. Anyways I can’t believe I have to wait until June ;_;

    I am debating on whether to keep reading the manhua while I wait or wait to read the manhua after the series. But that would be a looooong wait.

    I'm proficient in Chinese, but prefer to read in English because I consider it more my native tongue. I read Sa Ye online when it was fan translated and that translator was doing a fantastic job capturing the nuances of culture and setting. Imagine my horror when the translation was taken offline because Seven Seas acquired the rights to it for publication in North America and Europe, but I quickly pivoted to delight when I found out the translator they picked to do the official version was the same fan translator of the online version. I've waited for a year and it wasn't in vain. This isn't just a LGBTQ book, it's just a very well written story about the struggle to simply live and exist in a harsh environment and circumstances (poverty, family trauma, being stuck in a shitty town without opportunities, etc). It's just so happens the characters are two young men in China, but the struggle is still the same whether you're gay or straight, and the discovery of first love is the same as well.
