I was surprised when I read on the description that it was mite/insect free. Well I was not surprised when I got my shipment in and there were some mites. I expected to see some, if they were kept without any mites Id be more worried on what kind of environment they were kept in. I caught a few on tape and put them under my microscope, Im pretty sure they are H Miles, so I was happy about that, they are "good mites" I did see some sort of small beetle the first day I got them into their new home, but have not seen once since so I am not able to catch and see exactly what sort it was, but it did not seem like it would cause any issue, and its prob beneficial for composting. so I did take 1 star for the false claim of being mite/ insect free, even tho the mites and beetle I noted are nothing Im worried about.
Shipping was very fast, and worms arrived as described, I did not weigh my package, or take the ridiculous amount of time to count out the worms to see how many I had received. I got a ton of worms so regardless if it was a little over or a little under I was not too worried, I will have more then I will know to do with in just a few months so it was nnt the most important thing for me. I do feel I got my moneys worth. I had only 1 dead worm that I found after introducing them to their new home.
Their directions said they might look a bit sickly and thin because they are shipped in dry peat moss, I noticed this but after being in their new home and adding the water as suggested a few hours they started perking right up, by the next day they had already started eating the few small pieces of kale I put into their home in the corners to see how quickly they eat and get adjusted.
Very happy with my order, and I would recommend my friends to order through them. I ordered my worms during a 90 degree F week, and they arrived here in sunny southern California alive and wiggling.
