- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2019Beauty and the beast girl volume 1 is an adorable book about a blind woman meeting up with a monster and them falling in love. Despite the fact the monster has a lot of emotional baggage, the story never feels heavy or down. The author does a good job of adding some excitement or twists while also not letting them drag out too long to create stress. I imagine many people would prefer to have less things go well for the characters - but I personally really like the fluff and happier nature / tone.
Aside from that, I also found the art to be very pleasant. The author manages to give both characters an incredible amount of emotion and it really draws you in. I do wish we could get more of the color drawings of the characters :)
I do want to point out that if you are looking for more explicit things - this volume is not going to have that. However, this series does get to that eventually so keep that in mind before picking up this series.
tl dr - if you are interested in a fluffy and feel good yuri romance - you should definitely pick up this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025This manga is amazing. I love Yuri manga and anime’s and this story is perfect. I am a little upset that there’s not a second part to it but the story in my opinion is complete the way it starts the way. The story goes and how it ends it fits perfectly all into one I do hope this gets a movie anime adaption soon but considering this came out in 2017 I don’t see it happening but I can always hope
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2019A lonely monster who was cast out from her home live in the woods and frightens anyone who goes near. But that changes when a blind girl named Lily appears and talks to her. At first the monster makes up stories to entertain her guest, but as time passes her heart opens up and she falls in love with this girl who is not afraid of her but is afraid what she will do especially when she learns that she was the cause of her blindness. But Lily is stronger and more aware than she realizes, accepting her despite being a monster. But when Lily's family takes her away, can the monster show them that she is more than she appears?
I picked this up and enjoyed it. The characters are both cute with their own personalities. Each is different, but both are accepting of each, especially after it is revealed that the monster was the cause of Lily's blindness. The ending leaves a huge opening for future stories (especially since the author in the afterword said there is more to come). I anxiously await the next chapter in these two girls lives.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2022I love this manga so much that I bought two copies! There is tons of cuddling and kisses and it’s very, very sweet. There are moments where the tension rises, but the two girls always get through it together.
Heath, the beast girl, constantly thinks things like, “a monster can’t be loved”, but Lily always reassures her and shows her that she is loved. Super adorable and wholesome manga and I want to see more so badly. Please check out and support Neji’s Pixiv!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2025Very cute manga. I hope they would publish the rest of them because there are many more chapters to their story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2022The series has more to it, it's been fan translated and you have to read it online because sadly Seven Seas didn't translate the rest of it. But there is more! As a standalone book, it's wholesome and you don't get to in depth in the pain of the past. It's still worth reading on it's own though in my opinion. I highly suggest you seek the rest of it though if you really want more. It's a cute and worthwhile series.

5.0 out of 5 stars De las mejores historias wlw que he leído

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story with a perfectly matched style.
I read many different kinds of manga online and have been following this story for a while. I was amazed when Amazon popped it up as a suggestion, I’d never have expected it to get into actual print! And I’m so glad it did, I picked it up immediately.
The book is physically larger than the usual Seven Seas titles. I’d say it’s 2cm wider and about 2.5cm taller than regular manga so beware those who like neat looking bookshelves! However the larger size really made for a refreshingly easy read. No tiny squished up text.
I think others have covered the story itself. I find it beautiful and simplistic and sometimes that’s just what I want to read.
I’ve seen a few reviews mention that the story finished early – There’s so much more online! I’d say this matches up to chapter 18 with the online version (with a few extra pages in the book version) and currently Neji is up to chapter 36 so there’s plenty of material for a second book. Lets hope Seven Seas decide to continue publishing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genial

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and heart warming
Sadly the best part of this series is only available online.
Some people say that the story is kinda shallow, and that is true for the first chapters printed. But it gets so much better in the later chapters. Printing only 1 book doesn't give this series the honour it deserves.
If you decide to read the book, look up the rest online, but be warned:
The ending is a damn bitter sweet roller coaster but so good!
