Apparently it's My Fault That My Husband Has The Head of a Beast: Volume 1 Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

Love Is a Beastly Business!

Rumor has it that Princess Rosemarie is an antisocial shut-in, but the truth is far stranger. The young princess hides from the world because of a strange condition: whenever someone expresses a negative emotion, she sees their head transform into that of a fearsome beast.

It seems there's no one in the dishonest world of courtly manners she can trust... until she meets Prince Claudio of Baltzar, whose features remain ever human. The two marry at once, but she learns too late that his human features aren't thanks to a kindly nature. Claudio has become a very real beast, all because of Rosemarie's accidental theft of his mana many years prior!

Claudio's life and future are on the line until he gets his mana back — and Rosemarie would give anything to know how to do it. Will they break their mutual curse in time for Rosemarie to get home for tea, or will Claudio lose his temper first? Find out in this new romantic fantasy.

This book fits into a beauty and the beast format but I find it far more romantic and endearing.

I really enjoyed the pictures put throughout the novel. The characters were lovable and fun to read about.

I can't wait till the next Nobel releases

I'll be very up front in this review: this is marketed as a two volume series at this point in time, however the second volume leaves off with a cliffhanger. Volume two's Japan release was back in 2017. Since there hasn't been a whisper of a third volume as far as I can tell via a Google search, I have to assume that this series was abandoned or cancelled.

In good news, however, you can see this first volume as a mostly self-contained novel. It does have an "the adventure continues" type of ending since it was intended to be an ongoing series, but there's just enough resolution to where I can feel satisfied. The second volume has too big of a cliffhanger for comfort, so I would recommend just reading this, enjoying the romantic fluff, and calling it a day.

So on with the main review:

As mentioned before, this is a fairly fluffy romance. There are some mentions of deeper topics, but these are mostly waved to the side in order to play up the semi-reluctant romance between our two leads. It's not the deepest read or even the strongest romance that I've read as far as light novels go, but it is kind of the equivalent of a store brand cupcake. As long as you don't ask for too much from it, you'll get quite a lot of enjoyment out of it. I will say, however, that if you're not into jerky leads you may be frustrated here since the marriage here is certainly a work in progress.

All in all, this wasn't bad. If this was something that was available in libraries I'd say it would be a library read. However even though it isn't and I still had to buy this, it's not a terrible read and I'll probably re-read it in the future. It's no Bakarina, but few things are.

4.0 out of 5 stars A gentle romance

I picked it out of curiosity and I found myself enjoying a sweet and pleasant story without getting too overboard with the romance. The characters are agreeable and the story unfolds itself adequately.
I’m looking forward to read the next one.
