- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2019So if a guy transports himself to his own world, but the world changes around him, is it an Isekai novel, or something that gets to hit all the major points of such novels while being something ever so slightly different?
Great philosophy questions aside, our main character went on a journey of reincarnation because as the leader of the world, mightiest of all those around, he became isolated by his status. He sought to break that isolation and make friends, and he could not do that as the demon lord, so he up and reincarnated himself as an average human. This went . . . So-so. He jumped a fairly large span of time with his reincarnation, long enough for his empire to crumble and others to rise, long enough for the world to change in some pretty big ways, such that the differences catch him by surprise more than once. Also,
For those not up to speed on this type of novel...
“Demon Lord” in the case of this story, might be better interpreted as ‘supreme ruler incorporating various non-human peoples’, with an emphasis on rule via personal might, both with raw ability, and magical might. It seems to somehow miss the ‘Lord of demons’ interpretation - regardless, the takeaway here is that the main character was effectively the hero of the world he left, and his reincarnation has probably not changed him as much as it should.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2020Overview: This feels as though it was written to be an anime over being a light novel. If you start reading with this in mind, you should be OK.
Story: It was a hot mess in the beginning. Plenty of common tropes and themes. When you get a bit past the halfway mark is when the story starts taking off.
Characters: They are very likeable and also have very... "distinct" personalities. Good character building as no one overlaps.
Conclusion: A decent read if you can get over the first half. Illustrations are nice as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2021The story is very well written for a harem style story with an over powered main character. It mixes the isekai genre up a little by doing the "reborn in the same world a thousand years later" bit, but the stories is actually fairly good and you'll love the character. My only real complaint is the typical "every girl I meet is drop dead gorgeous!" Trope which is a little annoying. All in all, if you're into the reborn and harem style stories you'll probably like this one. Though be prepared the MC is portrayed as anti harem.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2020I saw a lot of negative reviews on here but I've been really enjoying light novels lately so I thought I would give it a try and I am glad I did. Sure some of it does go a bit over the top but I found myself feeling excitement and/or humor several times throughout the book and, for me, that's good enough to say it was worth the read. Thanks Myojin! Now for volume 2!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2019I thought it was OK. Personally I like OP characters, all though to be honest I like it more when they KNOW they are OP this idea that they don't realize how strong they are is a bit garbage and I am dropping a star for that. I also think the end boss was a bit over the top. I mean it was full on Dues ex summoning the stoic automatic battle armor/sword with the ancient spirit bound to it that can defeat any thing except of course this one enemy who is strong enough to destroy the entire world even without all the preamble and could of done so any time they wished in the last 1000 years but chose to do it only when protagonist was there. It was nonsense and stupid and the story would of been better without. Despite this I still somewhat enjoyed the story it was an OK read.
However I will not buy the next volume and I will sum up the reason reason with a simple quote from the book " A smile played on his lips as he one sidedly defeated each and every one of the demons--All without killing them." I think you see my point. I hate these type of authors. These "demons" kidnapped a girl, was going to have her raped and murdered, probably done it to many others yet not a single creature died by the MC's hands every single death in this story was either suicide to avoid capture or vanish by some self done spell. This is one of those authors who thinks they are writing children's books and I want nothing to do with them.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2020Not a bad story line. I feel like he refers to himself as the demon lord a little to much. Has the potential to be a really good series tho. Only other complaint is he needs to make up his mind if the girl is his daughter or his dog.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2019I have read some of the comments, and I don't see a problem with the MC not knowing how over powering they are. It is kind of like some programmers not knowing how good they are and only making 130k a year. They should ask for a raise!!! But the thing that kind of bothers me, is it seems to mention his friend as his daughter several times so far, and I am wondering if it is a translation issue. I do want him to finally catch on and know he is super charged, and perhaps attempt to tone it down some. Don't want to see alot of volumes where he still hasn't caught on.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2019I loved the change up for this story! The characters are likable and detailed. At first I hated the lack of detail about his early years, but I understand now. The device was well used. I look forward to the next volume!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's really good
I really liked how this story was in this book and the art was really good as well. This puts a twist on the reincarnation genre especially the last chapter it was really good, I recommend this book to anyone who likes reincarnation stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Luv it.
my first novel and I liked it. If you like the 'demonlord gets reincarnated' setting, or the setting of an OP MC, then you'll like it.
