Of Dragons and Fae: Is a Fairy Tale Ending Possible for the Princess’s Hairstylist? Kindle Edition
“At last, I’ve found you, my Bondmate.”
As Flowerfolk, I never dreamed of having a fairy tale romance, but I also didn’t expect to be dumped three days after being confessed to by a dragon knight! Spurned and angry, I decided to devote my life to my work as the human princess’s hairstylist, only to find out that the princess was going off to dragon country to marry the Dragonkin prince and taking me with her. Now I have to serve in the same castle as that jerk who dumped me! The princess can have the fairy tale ending, I’m done with romance.

Cute, easy to read and fluffy story. I love it. It has all the elements that I like in light novels, engaging and easy read without much conflict that can be finished in one sitting.
I just wished it explored more on the other tribes, it has an interesting notion specially with the Dragonkin and the Shadowkins, but other than that still an enjoyable read. The lovestory was quickly resolved and everyone is off to a happy ending.
Not sure if this is a stand alone but if it will have a sequel, I will definitely read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2025I love this book; I bought it a while back on a light novel binge, and it's probably the only book from those days that I've read more than once. It's a comfortable, feel-good read, with mature (mature in wisdom and knowledge, not sensuality) characters. As in all romance of this type, there is a bit of miscommunication, but all perceptions and misconceptions were rooted in believable emotions and circumstances, and everything wrapped up nicely. Whenever I need a pick me up, I find myself drawn to the comfortable world of this book, and would love to see more stories set in this world. Wonderfully written and translated!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2020Honestly, I wasn't even looking for light novel when I bought this book. I was browsing for manga. I actually thought this was a manga adaptation at first and downloaded the sample. I was surprised when it was all text after the cover but I still read the sample. After reading the sample, I thought it was promising. A good reading stable flow, likable characters and a good start. This is a really good short, standalone story. I enjoyed it very much and at some point, the inner monologue of the main character made me laugh outloud. I love lighthearted, simple and sweet romantic stories like this.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2021This was a cute, mostly light hearted story about a girl VERY passionate about her job as a hair stylist and a knight who...sadly often takes second place to her passion for hair.
There's a bit of strife, that's almost discordant with the story at times. You have Mayna's absolute passion for hairstyling and her fun banter with Ray...and oh yeah this highly shady dude doing very shady stuff and ruining Mayna's hardwork. Or trying to at least.
There's some awkward anachronistic moments (rage quit??) and the reason that Mayna and Ray separated is both hilarious (because come on dude) and vexing (real high level of miscommunication, god tier levels).
A quick read however and I'm always excited to read accomplished, ambitious women!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2021To be frank, I saw this book a couple of times in my notifications, and I put it back. A fairy hairstylist? How do you make THAT interesting? The plot is fairly normal for a Light Novel - the trials and tribulations of a stranger in a strange land. But the author crafts an absorbing take with vivid characters and action sequences. I'm a guy that's been cutting his own hair for over forty years, and the author has me interested in hair styles. THAT right there is some magical storytelling!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021I actually ended up grabbing this book by mistake! I was clicking too quickly while browsing. But I don’t like returning ebooks, so I thought I’d keep it and read it despite the accident. I’m very glad I did! This was an adorable romance with a bit of mystery in it that kept things moving at just the right pace. I may not have bought this at 8 bucks for an ebook (I find LN ebooks tend to be pricier) had I not clicked too quickly, but it was definitely worth it for me. Cute, engrossing, and a HEA!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2020I was craving cute fluffy story featuring a fun female lead with a sweet love story, this delivered.
The world building was good and the issues on class and cultural differences were addressed really well for a stand alone novel. I would love to read more by the same author, particularly using the same setting. More featuring the same leads would be fine, but I'd really love to see a new story with new characters in the same world.
Political intrigue added some danger and spice to the story without it making it too dark, or taking away from the romance.
Art also adorable! Just wish there had been more of it.
