I am a newcomer to the franchise. I've only played Symphony and Aria so far. This game is one of the least enjoyable experiences in gaming I've ever had IN GENERAL. Everything about this game feels like a major step back from what was done right in Symphony. Just an absolute slog in an uninteresting maze.
Perhaps it was a mistake to be playing the Advance Collection, but I do not believe that it excuses the faults of this game at all. Especially when I've been playing Circle of the Moon, which came out before this game, and it plays wonderfully.
A real shame because I actually really like Juste. Would love for him to star in an entry that is actually enjoyable to play.

As someone who has only really played Metroid, this game rules. The RPG mechanics and number of items really add a lot of variety. There’s quite a bit of stuff that I think would be fun to try in future playthroughs. Bosses were good (fuck you Beelzebub). I can’t say I was ever bored (something I can only say about Zero Mission and Super). Plus, the whole cast of characters were really cool and never overstayed their welcome. I can’t wait to play more from this series :)
I found myself annoyed by how limited I feel playing through this one. Like, really annoyed. Although I read some comments on how it is intentional for the story, it still really bugged me as I actually went through it.
However, there is so much in this game that is absolutely fantastic. The new setting feels so refreshing, new bosses are great, the controls are a lot tighter in comparison to Super, and the story is the most interesting in the series (I have yet to play Dread). And of course, everyone knows about the SA-X and the amount of tension that emanates from it.
It's a shame that, for me, the way the game holds you so tightly that it nearly took away my sight from the great things this game actually does. In all honesty, I would love to see MercurySteam get their shot at a remake of Fusion like they originally wanted to do as I think there is a lot of potential in what a modern take could do.
