I wanna give this game a perfect score but man, it’s far from perfect. The gameplay was a step up over the first game which i expect to be. The Technical aspect was nice and graphics were great, despite some crashes in the games which is my fault from putting my ps5 on rest mode for a while and run the game for a while with no breaks. The symbiote gameplay and mechanics and are perfect. Miles is too OP IMO. The game’s score was great, the performances from the characters were phenomenal as well. The game, yet again makes me feel like Spider-Man.
Now, The reason why it’s far from perfect is the open-world, the atmosphere, and the story. The reason i loved the first game is everything it hits and the story was one of my favorite Spider-Man stories in any medium of the character. Basically in words of Homelander “It was Perfect, Perfect”.
In this game, despite being huge in size in map, it feels underwhelming as hell. Like there’s nothing really to do, which is one of my biggest pet peeves in open world games, a big map but with no things to do or not make it appealing or interesting to the player. which the game was suffering from. Even finishing everything or when there’s something to do like the side stories, it feels empty to roam around NYC. In regards it doesn’t ruin the game for me.
The Story, well, it’s a chaotic experience. The story was good and interesting but it doesn’t hit me like the first game did. It was more hype than emotion which is not bad but i felt like it focused on shock value over the quality. The bosses were nice and all though. It felt short and poor paced at times which i wished the story was more fleshed out in its characters, arcs, and lore. The story overall was a step down in terms of quality compared to the first but still a banger, i hope the DLCs come in clutch and flesh out more.
Overall, this game is a massive hit and worth the hype just not hype enough to be better than the first. I love it regardless, can’t wait for more.
9.4/10
Playing as Venom is got to be one of my top 5 video game experiences in my life.
