LUX: The Short Film (2020)
Roles: Writer, Director, Editor, Cinematographer, Visual Effects, and Sound Design
This film was four years of my life and evolved with me as I went through college. I finished it in the last weeks of college and it first showed at LUX: Film Production Club’s last meeting of the quarter: The End of The Year Screening. I created the club as a freshman and the club was named after this very film. Back then this film was just a concept, and eventually became our club’s first project that we started shooting the summer between freshman and sophomore year. However, after four years, it finally showed at my last club meeting as I was graduating.
I was finishing two LUX’s at once.
There are so four years of stories behind its creation. This film was created outside of school and in the spare time of 4 years. So there’s a lot I could write here. This page will likely expand and be reorganized as it grows.

The Story
A Discovery…
The film LUX is the story of a stargazer from another planet called LUX, who dreams about her mysterious interstellar origins until one day she awakens to the crash of NASA's Voyager 1 probe and discovers onboard a golden vinyl record with the sounds and images of Earth.
Production
Shot in Central Oregon
For a week in early September we drove down to the mountains of central Oregon and shot the exterior locations of the film!
POST PRODUCTION (Editing + VFX)
LUX had a lengthy VFX process that took the last two years of my College career to finish. There are 129 visual effects shots in the film, each one of them I composited and created assets for. Each shot had multiple iterations and there are several more shots that never made it into the film.
Here is a Visual Effects reel to show some of the work I did on the film.
Here's my VFX Compositing reel! All shots are from my short film titled LUX that I've been working on for the past 4 years!
