Apple is reportedly launching an iCloud-powered events and invite service called “Confetti” inside the company as soon as this week. The feature will enable users to invite their friends and families to upcoming parties and functions.
The move is part of Apple’s plan to revamp its Calendar app.
iCloud may get a new service this week
Apple has not meaningfully upgraded its Calendar app in years. It still packs the same functionality as a few years ago, while rivals like Google have added useful features to their calendar service. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, in his latest Power On newsletter, reports Apple will change this starting with the release of “Confetti,” through the actual product name is not yet known.
“As the festive code name implies, the service offers a new way to invite people to parties, functions and meetings,” says Gurman. The feature is seemingly linked to iOS 18.3, which Apple released last week.
“Confetti” will not be part of the Calendar app, though. It will be a separate service relying on supposedly a new Invites app. The primary goal of “Confetti” will be to simplify event planning, enabling you to easily keep a tab on who is attending and who is not.
Gurman did not share more details about this new iCloud service in his report. So, we will have to wait for Apple’s announcement later this week to know more about it.
Apple is seemingly working on several calendar-related improvements, which it could release over the coming months.
iCloud keeps getting better
Apple has consistently enhanced iCloud by introducing new features and refining existing ones. The new “Confetti” service should further increase the value of iCloud, especially for those who frequently hold parties and events.
