WHY GO?

Offering a heady mix of temples, beaches, history, art and friendly locals 2, Cambodia is sure to keep you on your toes – in a very good way. The Khmer empire that ruled what is now Laos, Thailand and Vietnam once called Cambodia home, and traces of this great empire still linger. The greatest testament to its glory is, of course, Angkor Wat 1, but, while its history is steeped in its temples and wat (sacred precincts), the country urges travellers to look beyond the fairly obvious.
