Materials
• 1.1m (1¼yd) light tan print fabric (background)
• Fat eighths, charm squares or large scraps of assorted print fabrics (appliqué)
• 10cm (⅛yd) each of eight print fabrics (star)
• 15cm (¼yd) each of three print fabrics (star) – see Step 1 in Strip sets
• 35cm (½yd) brown print fabric (binding)
• 1.75m (2yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 115cm (46in) square
• 6mm (¼in) bias tape make and 5mm fusible-web tape
• Water-soluble fabric-basting glue
• Template plastic and fine permanent-marking pen
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine with ¼in foot
• General sewing supplies
Appliqué
From the light tan print fabric, cut:
• one strip, 16in x width of fabric. Cross cut it to yield square, 16in. Cut this square twice on the diagonal to yield four quarter-square triangles (setting triangles). Trim the remainder of the strip to 11in, and from it, cross cut two squares, 11in (corners)
• one strip, 11in x width of fabric. Cross cut it to yield another two squares, 11in (corners)
• four strips, 2½in x width of fabric (border)
