“When I started performing stand-up comedy in London, I went by the name of CJ. For a man who could fit in anywhere but belonged nowhere, I began to find a sense of belonging in an industry full of misfits. At that time, another transformation was taking place in my life.
Ever since I first met her, I had found myself truly, madly, and deeply in love with N. I wanted us to build a life together. After completing her masters, she landed a job in London. We moved into a house together, I proposed to her, and we got engaged. With my loans paid, us in a house together and marriage on the cards, things felt good. But I wasn’t prepared for what came next.
When you are in a relationship and struggling to make ends meet and build a foundation for your lives, you really stick together as a couple. You fight the odds to make things happen for yourself and the other person. But sometimes, when things get better, the relationship deteriorates. The pressure is off and you lose sight of
