Mol Mashigo

Artist and photographer

“There are a lot of people with artistic talent here in Cullinan, but they cannot afford paint and brushes and things like that,”says Mol, who was four years old when his family moved from Daveyton to Cullinan in 1989.

He has numerous paintings on display in the large exhibition space at Makers Village, but he is particularly proud of those currently on display at the Cullinan Premier Hotel.

He takes out his cellphone to show us photos of some of these works of art. “My artistic talent definitely comes from my mother,” Mol says, “and in my art I express the things I dream about. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to do an internship with Tania in Irene about 10 years ago, and I learnt an incredible amount about art, 3D printing, laser cutting, embroidery… you name it.
